Yue Muhong and his two companions braved the wind and snow, racing hundreds of miles without a word. Ao Kong had stopped making a fuss as well. He seemed to feel a lingering fear, and so he sped along with them.
Fortunately, no mutant beasts were active on the snowfield at night, and the three made it out safely. Only when they sensed no sign of Fang Mo pursuing them did they breathe sighs of relief.
"Ao Kong, what the hell got into you today?"
Lian Qingyi stared at Ao Kong with a hostile expression as she panted.
Ao Kong froze at her words and looked at her face. Lian Qingyi said indignantly, "What? Am I wrong? What evidence did you have to insist that Senior Fang was an impostor? Do you know anything about the Inner Sect? All you have is hearsay. That proves nothing!"
Ao Kong looked at Lian Qingyi and suddenly snapped:
"What more evidence do you need? Who in the sect doesn't know that Elder Ling only took one disciple, Gu Lingfeng? That's a fact! Back then, Elder Ling said he wouldn't take any more disciples, and it caused an uproar. Haven't you heard about it?"
Lian Qingyi froze as well, apparently not expecting Ao Kong to suddenly speak to her in that tone. Her eyes narrowed sharply, and she said angrily:
"What if Elder Ling took a disciple in private? How do you know he didn't? Even if he wasn't Elder Ling's disciple, you shouldn't have said that under those circumstances! If he really was an impostor, wouldn't you have put all of us in danger? Did you never consider that?"
Ao Kong's eyes reddened, and he shouted in agitation:
"Lian Qingyi, you've fallen for him, haven't you? Even with such a universally acknowledged fact,
