Somewhere on the vast continent, a speck of starlight fell into a great lake.
It was as though a tiny pebble had fallen into the water, stirring only a few ripples that spread outward.
The wind suddenly stilled. The fish swimming in the lake abruptly stopped, the Mutant Beasts hunting nearby grew restless, and birds about to dive for prey suddenly beat their wings and soared away.
The bottom of the lake suddenly lit up, as though blue energy were surging there.
Immediately afterward, a wave of cold poured out of the lake, and its surface began freezing rapidly.
The cold spread swiftly from the center of the lake. Countless fish and Mutant Beasts were frozen before they could escape, becoming ice sculptures, while many other Mutant Beasts sensed the danger and hurried out of the great lake.
But the ice spread too quickly. Before long, the thousand-mile lake was completely frozen, and even the trees along its shores were coated in frost, turning the area into a world of ice and snow.
Snow began drifting down from the sky, as though the place had transformed into the frozen north in an instant.
Within the frozen lake, an enormous luminous shadow swam, its thousand-meter body radiating an icy glow. Faint, low calls rose from the water, like vibrating sound waves traveling thousands of miles.
Countless Mutant Beasts felt terror and lowered their heads, uttering uneasy whimpers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
On the frozen lake, the countless frozen Mutant Beasts shook off ice crystals and let out excited growls. They seemed to have transformed into crystalline ice monsters, their frozen eyes gleaming with sinister cold.
Like a string of firecrackers going off, countless Mutant Beasts burst out of the lake. Soon, terrifying ice-encrusted monsters covered its surface.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
