Lin Taichu had been prepared. He sidestepped David's sword and ran toward the other end of the passage.
The passage was narrow. David's Guards wanted to pursue him, but Karen's men blocked them—though Karen said nothing, he quietly shifted to the side and blocked the path of two Guards.
The other soldiers also moved, intentionally or otherwise slowing the Guards down.
Lin Taichu knew that Karen and the others were helping him.
He did not look back and ran all the way toward the Dungeon exit. The Dungeon exit was in Atlantis's lower district, where ordinary merfolk lived. There were many alleys there, making it easy to hide.
After running for only a few minutes, Lin Taichu saw the Dungeon exit.
Outside was a narrow alley, lined on both sides with houses built from coral and stone. It was late at night, and most of the lights inside had gone out. Only an occasional home still glowed with faint light.
The moment he ran out of the alley, he heard David roar behind him, "Chase him! Don't let him get away!"
Lin Taichu did not dare stop. He ran toward a busier area—the lower district had a fish market. Though it was deep into the night, some vendors were still packing up. With so many people around, it would be easier to shake his pursuers.
Sure enough, when they reached the fish market, David's Guards hesitated. There were still plenty of residents there. If they made a move here, they could easily hurt innocent people, and it would be difficult to explain afterward.
Lin Taichu took the opportunity to slip behind a seaweed stall. The stall was piled high with dried seaweed, enough to hide him.
