Just as he reached the mansion gate, he saw Old Doctor and Amu standing there. There was still some dust on them, but they looked to be in good spirits.
When Old Doctor saw Lin Taichu, he hurried over. "Mr. Lin, are you all right? I heard you went to save the City Lord. That was far too dangerous!"
"I'm fine," Lin Taichu said with a smile. "Let's go back to the little clinic first. The City Lord has already agreed to return it to us."
When they returned to the little clinic, they found its doors open. Although the things inside were somewhat disordered, most of them were still there. It seemed the City Lord really had been frightened and no longer dared make trouble for them.
Over the next few days, Lin Taichu stayed at the clinic, helping Old Doctor sort things out while also treating the townspeople.
The City Lord did indeed keep his promise. He withdrew the wanted notices, stopped monopolizing the medicinal herbs trade, and even sent quite a few medicinal herbs to the clinic as an apology.
But Lin Taichu knew that the City Lord and Prince An would not simply let the matter go. They had only been temporarily intimidated. Once the heat died down, they might look for another chance to retaliate.
Moreover, Prince An was highly ambitious. He could not possibly be satisfied with merely monopolizing the medicinal herbs trade. He would surely make even bigger moves in the future.
That evening, Lin Taichu called Old Doctor and Wang Xiaohu together. "I plan to leave Rice Country."
Old Doctor froze for a moment. "Why? The City Lord doesn't dare trouble us anymore, and the clinic has recovered. If you stay, we can build the clinic up together and help many people."
