Luofeng City had underground Restrictions, and its spiritual energy density was higher than elsewhere. One reason Cultivators were willing to trade Dharma Artifacts there was the abundance of spiritual energy—Dharma Artifacts were not easily damaged within Luofeng City.
But White Cloud City had no such thing. The spiritual energy in the city was at the ordinary level for a Southern Region city, neither high nor low; there was no compelling reason for people to come here specifically to trade.
Although there were quite a few shops in the city, only three sold Dharma Artifacts. None of them carried much stock, and the quality was mediocre at best, nowhere near comparable to the goods from Immortal Soldier Island.
If passing merchant caravans wanted to purchase Dharma Artifacts here, they simply could not find anything worthwhile.
Lin Taichu stood at the mouth of an alley in the north of the city, watching a warehouse not far away.
Two carriages were parked outside the warehouse, several large crates piled on their beds. A few men were loading goods onto the carriages. There were no labels on the crates, making it impossible to tell what was inside, but judging by their size and the effort the workers used, they were not heavy.
He stood at the alley entrance for a while without approaching the warehouse, then turned and detoured around it by another road.
After covering most of the city, he found an inn in the east and checked in. He asked for a second-floor room facing the street, where opening the window gave him a view of the road below.
He sat in his room until nightfall. Once the people on the street had thinned out, he went downstairs to the innkeeper's counter.
The innkeeper was an old man in his fifties, sitting
