Over the next few days, Luofeng City saw far more activity than usual.
First, two handcarts laden with ironware left through the eastern gate. Two days later, a group of porters carrying bundles of cloth set out as well. Rather than taking the northern official road, they turned east toward the foot of Crosscut Ridge, following the repaired trail over the mountains.
After the first group returned, the general stores along Luofeng City's eastern street began restocking. The day after they finished, more people set out again.
Every morning, Su Yao first went to the front hall and looked over the lists Zhao Feng had sent over. They recorded the volume of goods leaving by that trail and the volume returning. After reading them for three days straight, she folded the papers and set them on the table, then said something to Lin Taichu.
"At this rate, in another half month, Luofeng City's trade route will outdo White Cloud City's old road."
Lin Taichu smiled faintly. He knew Sun Desheng would not let go so easily.
Once word spread that the trade route had opened up, more people came to Luofeng City looking for Lin Taichu.
The first to arrive was the steward of a freight depot from a southern town. He brought two people with him and sat on the steps outside Zhao Family Mansion for an hour before Lin Taichu came out to meet him. They discussed whether a collection point could be set up in Luofeng City.
The next day, an old man who traveled alone on business came by, carrying a cloth sack filled with several Dharma Artifact samples, and asked whether Lin Taichu was willing to buy them.
Lin Taichu had Su Yao handle such matters. Goods worth taking were accepted, terms worth discussing were
