The next day, the Old Man rose early and exercised outside the courtyard. Dao Lord Taichu, who was sound asleep, heard the sounds outside.
He hurriedly got up as well. Glancing out the window, he discovered that the owl from last night had disappeared.
He did not dwell on it any longer. After straightening his clothes, he walked toward the Old Man.
"Good morning, Senior. Did you have breakfast after getting up so early?"
Dao Lord Taichu asked the Old Man with great respect, his eyes constantly watching him.
"You're up, young man. There's food in the kitchen. Go help yourself."
The Old Man replied approvingly.
Dao Lord Taichu had intended to continue questioning him, but after hearing that, he obediently went to the kitchen to eat.
When he arrived in the kitchen, the doubts in his heart kept him from eating the food right away. Instead, he took out a Silver Needle.
Only after testing it and finding no problem did he breathe a sigh of relief and begin eating heartily.
The hardships and travel of the past few days had exhausted him. He had only eaten wild fruit in the forest and had never had a proper meal.
There would be plenty of time to question the Old Man after eating. Asking him questions the moment he got up would seem impolite, especially since the Old Man was still exercising.
When he finished eating and went to find the Old Man, he saw him sitting by the table, drinking tea. Dao Lord Taichu hurried forward respectfully and poured him some tea.
The Old Man was pleased by his conduct and said,
"Didn't you want to ask me some questions? Go ahead and ask whatever you want. I can answer them all."
