The murderer returned Lu Bai's gun, then turned to the middle-aged man ahead of him and taunted him tentatively. "What are you supposed to be? All you do is talk shit."
The middle-aged man didn't get angry. His expression remained composed, and his tone barely changed.
"You don't know who I am? Heh. Then allow me to introduce myself. I'm Heide, and I have the honor of serving as the Section Chief of D Sector."
Lu Bai loaded his gun and casually slipped it back into the holster at his waist. Since there were other deathmatchers present, he could wait and see what happened. There was no need to rush into the fray.
The zealot he'd placed such high hopes in, however, sensed something was wrong and discreetly took half a step back.
The other Collector didn't retreat, but he was just as unwilling to be the first to make a move.
As the iron door behind them rattled under a barrage of pounding, the murderer was the first to lose his patience.
He raised the dark muzzle of his gun and aimed it at the Section Chief named Heide.
"That's just great. I was worried I didn't have any hostages. Your title should make your men hesitate to act, shouldn't it?"
Before he'd finished speaking, he pulled the trigger without hesitation.
The bullet shot straight toward the Section Chief's thigh.
Heide's expression didn't change. His right hand suddenly swept out, catching the bullet with pinpoint accuracy.
He held the bullet between two fingers for Lu Bai and the others to see, then slowly crushed it as he said lightly, "How could you misunderstand me so badly? I earned my position as Section Chief through my own abilities."
After speaking, Heide raised his foot and stamped down hard.
Boom!
