Lu Bai didn't hurry to make a sound and alert the other party. He even kept his breathing at its normal rate while sleeping.
He really found this a little strange.
He could understand why the Replicants would secretly try to kill the deathmatch fighters.
But the problem was, why had they come after him?
It was obvious he could still use his abilities.
Setting aside whether this assassination could succeed,
even if it did, without him, wouldn't their standing at the containment center go right back to what it had been as refugees?
No matter how he looked at it, going after him at a time like this seemed like a bad decision.
Unable to understand the other party's thought process, Lu Bai reached over and pressed the button beside his bed, turning on the room lights.

The next second, even Lu Bai, with his strong nerves, couldn't help feeling shaken.
He realized he'd been mistaken.
The figure who had made it to the side of his bed wasn't a tall, burly man.
He'd mistaken the figure for one simply because all four of its limbs were twisted in such a bizarre way that it looked huge in the darkness.
The part of its face showing above its mask was twisted even more grotesquely.
There wasn't a single normal feature. Its entire face looked like the swirls in latte art, with the corners of its eyes stretched down beneath the mask.
Yet despite being twisted into such a state, the figure in front of him still retained a human shape. Just looking at it made his spine prickle with the uncanny terror of something almost, but not quite, human.
The title "Flying Swallow Combination" hovered over the figure's head, indicating that it really was a deathmatch fighter.
