Luther froze, then broke into a smile.
"You should've said so sooner, Miss Arianna. What do you need me to do this time?"
His attitude had improved somewhat.
Then he heard Arianna's brief reply:
"Counter them."
"Counter them?"
"Yes. Saint Samuel Cathedral is the Goddess's domain, and Anthony is Her servant. An attack on them is an affront to Her." Arianna's voice was deep and somber, like a cold wind echoing through the dead of night. "We will teach whoever is behind this a lesson."
In other words, someone had nearly struck at the Goddess in Her own home, and She wasn't happy... Ordinary people had to swallow their anger. When the Goddess was angry, Her servants would naturally act on Her behalf.
Luther nodded thoughtfully. "What exactly do you want me to do, Miss Arianna?"
"I want you to lead a team to Feysac and eliminate the organizations and individuals stirring up trouble there," Arianna said. "If the mastermind wants to start a war between our countries, we cannot let him have his way." The situation in Feysac was far more dire than in Loen.
The old king was gravely ill and near death, and several members of the Royal Family were fighting over the succession.
To win more support, one of them had deliberately stirred up public sentiment, sharply increasing hostility toward Loen throughout society. This candidate had promised that, once he became king, he would take a hard line against Loen and reclaim the lands they had lost.
