Inside the Hall Family's castle in East Chester County.
"Audrey, did you not sleep well last night?"
The flames crackled in the fireplace in the castle's main hall. Earl Hall looked up at his youngest daughter with an indulgent smile. "You look a little tired."
"Because this castle left such a profound impression on me, my esteemed Earl," Audrey said tactfully. "It's almost as if I can smell the ancient air of a bygone era in my room."
In plain language, it smelled musty.
"My esteemed Earl, couldn't you have this castle properly maintained?"
"That really is a shame."
The Earl smiled. "In fact, I spend tens of thousands of pounds repairing it every year... If you really can't stand it, sleep in the manor tomorrow night."
All one could say was that, while a castle symbolized status, only those who lived in one knew how cold and uncomfortable it could be.
"That would be wonderful."
Audrey nodded.
Sorry, Papa. That isn't actually the main reason I didn't sleep well... At the edge of her vision stood an illusory figure.
-The red-haired, golden-eyed Lady Greed stood in the castle's drawing room. With elegant steps, she slowly approached the fireplace.
The flames illuminated her beautiful face.
Yet neither Earl Hall nor the servants and guards in the drawing room paid this unfamiliar visitor any attention.
So I really wasn't dreaming last night...
Audrey secretly tensed, not daring to look directly at the figure.
Last night in the Garden of Eden, after Greed reached out to her, she hadn't done anything particularly terrifying. She had merely attached something illusory to Audrey's mind island. Then she had used "Hypnosis" to make Audrey forget the events of that night. Only upon seeing her again would Audrey remember and remain absolutely obedient to her words.
