Ince Advanced to Sequence 3? (Something came up today; tomorrow I'll make up the missing update)
"It's him!"
The instant Leonard saw that face, his eyes widened.
There was no doubt. This was his enemy, Ince Zangwill-the man who had betrayed the Church, orchestrated the Tingen incident, and killed Captain Dunn!
Intense anger surged in his heart, but at the same time, Leonard felt a terrifying pressure.
"Ah!"
"What is this?!"
"Run!"
People screamed and fled as thick black fog spread through the surrounding streets. Within that fog, a distorted river vaguely emerged.
Leonard saw that the liquid flowing through it was not water, but pale yellow pus, as foul and nauseating as fluid from a rotting corpse. Countless hideous monsters lurked above the pus:
Blood-red arms stripped of skin, green vines bearing infants' faces, and slick tentacles covered in eyes kept spreading outward, trying to seize everything around them and drag it into the river.
The river emanated a terrifying, uncanny aura, like a giant beast that devoured life without restraint...
"Ugh!" Beside him, Daly clutched her chest and staggered. Fortunately, Leonard reached out and caught her in time.
What was going on?!
Shock filled his heart.
Just as Miss Daly had said, the abilities Ince Zangwill displayed clearly belonged to the high sequences of the Death pathway! But after betraying the Church and obtaining Saint Selena's Ashes, he had plainly switched from the Death pathway to the neighboring Evernight pathway!
