Background / History

Wang Hao met Jiang Ran in junior high school: Jiang Ran was in Class 1, while Wang Hao and Cheng Mengxue were in Class 3. A sociable and popular student, Wang Hao regularly visited Jiang Ran's class during breaks, leading to their friendship. He later served as class monitor in high school. 30

After graduation, Wang Hao attended a vocational college and organized a summer class reunion through the high-school group chat. Although he was not part of Jiang Ran, Qin Feng, and Cheng Mengxue's closest trio, he remained on good terms with them and regularly met Jiang Ran and Qin Feng for barbecue during their first two years of university. 18 30

When invited to a barbecue gathering, Wang Hao arrived late because he was taking the bus to save money. He remembered the title of Jiang Ran's middle-school setting book, Genius Playground, but could not recall its plot or mechanics. He became drunk after the meal, and Jiang Ran and Qin Feng took him home. 30 32

Following Qin Feng's ten-year worldline alteration, Wang Hao had no memory of Qin Feng and insisted that the high-school “Iron Triangle” had consisted of himself, Jiang Ran, and Cheng Mengxue. He informed Jiang Ran that Cheng Mengxue had died in a car accident two years earlier. 36 37

On this altered worldline, Wang Hao and Jiang Ran attended Donghai Vocational College of Foreign Economy and Trade together. Wang Hao explained that Jiang Ran had missed two college-entrance-exam subjects after witnessing Cheng Mengxue's accident, which led to his vocational-college admission. 42

Appearance

Wang Hao has a stout build and is repeatedly characterized as a “little fatty.” By the time he reunites with Jiang Ran and Qin Feng, he is noted to have become noticeably broader than before. 32

Despite his comedic habits, Wang Hao is loyal and protective of Jiang Ran. On the altered worldline, he keeps Cheng Mengxue's death private because he considers it Jiang Ran's trauma, supports Jiang Ran's relationship with Nan Xiuxiu, and repeatedly covers for Jiang Ran when Jiang Ran ignores Xiuxiu's calls. 42 50

As former class monitor, Wang Hao announces a planned high-school reunion. Later, his unexpected recollection of the title Genius Playground confirms that he had read Jiang Ran's old middle-school writing, though he cannot provide any useful details about it. 18 32

Altered Worldline

Wang Hao becomes one of Jiang Ran's first points of contact after Qin Feng's hidden message causes a major Worldline Jump. His sincere denial that Qin Feng was ever a classmate establishes the extent to which the altered history has erased Qin Feng from their shared past. 36

He then reveals Cheng Mengxue's death, forcing Jiang Ran to confront the devastating consequences of the changed timeline. 37

Support for Jiang Ran's Return to Line 0

While unaware of Jiang Ran's retained memories or spacetime plans, Wang Hao remains a practical ally. He explains Jiang Ran's altered educational path, protects his privacy with Nan Xiuxiu, and continues to include him in ordinary routines such as meals and a proposed trip back to Hang City. 42 50
