The Bull Demon King was a renowned demon throughout the Three Realms. He possessed formidable powers and commanded considerable forces. Even when Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie had joined hands against him, they had fought for a day and a night without a victor. Lesser gods and demons never dared act up around him.
Had the middle-aged man sincerely apologized for failing to recognize someone so famous, that would have been one thing.
But the man merely nodded. He brought up Sun Wukong by name, and everything he said implied that the Bull Demon King was clinging to Sun Wukong's fame. How could the proud old bull stand that?
He roared, "I told you not to mention him, and you did it anyway! You're asking for a beating!"
He stamped his foot. Power exploded outward with a rumble, whipping up a gale and shaking the branches wildly.
Dust billowed everywhere. The middle-aged man staggered back several steps, unable to withstand it. "It's a misunderstanding! A misunderstanding!" he cried.
The Bull Demon King eased off his power slightly, and the man seized his chance. "We're acquainted, aren't we? Bull Demon King, we've never interfered with each other. I don't want trouble with you!"
The Bull Demon King snorted. The man continued, "But you need to put down that child."
The Bull Demon King was far too proud to heed the veiled threat. "I haven't seen my wife in two hundred years. Today I'm bringing her a fine meal, and you won't spoil it!"
The man folded his arms and laughed. "This child isn't like other children. I'm afraid your wife won't be able to enjoy him!"
"Oh? Why not?"
The man turned and struck an imposing pose, looking thoroughly pleased with himself. "Because he's the nephew of my master, Erlang Shen!"
