"No, I disagree."
Just then, the little Starlight Grass girl jumped out to object. "Our boss sacrificed her life for us. How can we, her followers, leave her to die?
"At the very least, we need to find out whether she's safe. Otherwise, what kind of followers are we? We'd be letting her sacrifice go to waste."
No, I didn't sacrifice my life.
The little World Tree girl was speechless. She wanted to say she wasn't dead. How had Starlight Grass decided she was, and that she had sacrificed herself, no less?
Still, she felt a little comforted. Her second-in-command was loyal, at least compared with that traitor Star Tree. The moment she was supposedly gone, Star Tree had leaped at the chance to seize power.
"Quiet, Starlight Grass."
The little Star Tree girl raised her voice. "I understand how you feel. None of us wanted the boss to sacrifice herself, but it's happened, and there's nothing we can do.
"Why did the boss sacrifice herself? For our safety, wasn't it? If we rush out and get eaten by other gods and demons, what meaning would her sacrifice have?
"Wouldn't she have died for nothing?
"Tell me, can we really go against her final wish?"
She looked heartbroken, as though grief had swallowed her whole.
"Star Tree's right."
"Exactly. If we die too, we'll have wasted our lives and let the boss down."
"Looks like we can't just leave to search for Boss World Tree."
The little girls nodded in agreement. It made perfect sense: World Tree had sacrificed herself so they could live.
If they foolishly left this place and lost their lives, Boss World Tree's death would mean nothing. They couldn't do something so stupid.
The little World Tree girl's face darkened. That traitor Star Tree was shameless.
