At dusk, Ye Hongyu the Dao Fanatic, Mo Shanshan the Calligraphy Fanatic, and Ning Que of the Academy arrived at Great Ming Lake.
The ring in Ning Que's hand opened the Devil Sect Mountain Gate, allowing them to bypass the Block Fortress Formation.
As they walked, Mo Shanshan looked at a stone tablet in the passage, its inscription barely legible. "But that tablet clearly says Ke Haoran of the Academy annihilated the Demon Sect here. Surely no one could have survived until now. Could Ke Haoran still be inside the Devil Sect Mountain Gate? And who is he?"
Ke Haoran of the Academy was someone many great cultivators did not wish to mention, a figure buried by time. Naturally, Mo Shanshan knew nothing about him.
Chen Tian said, "A legend of the Academy. A peerless powerhouse!
"You may not know him, Miss Mo, but your master certainly does."
They pushed through the rubble in the passage and walked another half mile before finally reaching the interior of the Devil Sect Mountain Gate.
A vast space had been hollowed out of the mountain near Great Ming Lake, so deep it was daunting to behold.
Such an immense undertaking could not have been easy. The broken Divine Talismans on the cavern walls attested to the terrifying place the Demon Sect had once held among the world's cultivators.
Looking at the mountain of white bones piled on a platform deep within the cavern, Mo Shanshan said softly, "It's hard to imagine what kind of battle took place here."
Ning Que had nearly reached the pile when he suddenly retreated several steps. He aimed his bow at an old hand, dry as bark, that had emerged from the bones. "Someone's still alive in there!" he shouted.
He had not expected anyone to remain alive
