  • Lieshan was born with a monstrous appearance, lost his mother Ren Si, and later became the disciple of Blue Lotus Xudu.
  • Lieshan established his resolve to end hunger, cultivated grain, and worked with Xudu to help the Jiang Clan Tribe build a lasting food supply.
  • Lieshan discovered rice, millet, broomcorn millet, wheat, and beans, earning the name Shennong while surveying the Human Race’s lands and improving cultivation.
  • Fuxi completed his divination method, learned his merit was nearly fulfilled, and asked the Human Race’s leaders to recommend a successor.
  • The leaders recommended Shennong, and Fuxi chose to visit him personally, suspecting he might not accept the position if summoned.

Ch. 1962Common Lord Shennong, Heavenly Sovereign Fuxi

Fuxi chose Shennong as the Human Race’s next Common Lord and formally abdicated after his merit was complete. As Fuxi regained his past-life memories and became the Human Race’s Heavenly Emperor, the Saints’ schemes exposed the danger facing the Human Race, leaving Shennong with the burden of leading it onward.

  • Shennong rejected the offer of the Common Lord’s position when Fuxi’s envoys tested his character, so Fuxi decided to visit him in person.
  • Fuxi convinced Shennong that accepting the position was a responsibility to the Human Race, and Shennong agreed to become the next Common Lord.
  • Fuxi publicly abdicated to Shennong at Chen Capital, completing his merit and allowing Yun Zhongzi to become a Quasi-Saint.
  • Fuxi regained his memories as Demon Emperor Fuxi, but rejected the Saints’ attempt to identify him by that title and received the Human Emperor Seal.
  • The Saints disputed where Fuxi should retire before ultimately recognizing him as the Human Race’s Heavenly Emperor, and Fuxi entrusted the Human Race to Shennong.

Ch. 1963Shennong's Resolve, Primordial Beginning's Wrath

Fuxi left the Human Race after his merits were complete, and Shennong took up the work of improving their lives before setting out to find cures for disease. Meanwhile, five Saints exploited Primordial Beginning’s absence to suppress powerful figures across Hong Huang, and Primordial Beginning planned how to punish them without disrupting future events.

  • Fuxi departed for Fire Cloud Cave, while Yun Zhongzi refused to continue calling him a teacher and the Saints watched Shennong with suspicion.
  • Shennong unified the Human Race through his tireless efforts, spread the Five Grains, and learned that worsening illness and epidemics threatened his people.
  • Styx and other powerful figures sought justice from Yimu, who revealed that five Saints were acting together while his master was away and advised them to wait for his return.
  • The five Saints gained fortune as living beings worshiped them and began reclaiming authority over the Heavenly Court, Hell, and eventually the Human Race.
  • Primordial Beginning learned of the Saints’ actions and resolved to weaken them, reclaim their Supreme Treasures, and foster conflicts while preserving the Investiture of the Gods and Journey to the West.

Ch. 1964The Heavens Changed, but Shennong Remained the Same

The Jade Emperor and Queen Mother’s earthly marriage triggered a vast transformation that divided Hong Huang into the Immortal, mortal, and Netherworld realms. Shennong continued tasting herbs with help from Xu Du and three treasures, while the Saints claimed new territories and kept their designs on the Human Race.

  • Fuxi arranged for Nuwa to officiate the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother’s wedding, and they proved the earthly marriage without interference from the Saints.
  • Hong Huang transformed, separating spiritual-rich lands into the Immortal Realm and forming a mortal world of thirteen lands, while the Blood Sea and Netherworld remained distinct.
  • The Jade Emperor investigated the changes as the Saints debated their cause; Creation Daoist and Hongjun recognized the upheaval, and Primordial Beginning’s return drew nearer as his fusion advanced.
  • Shennong continued tasting herbs and treating the Human Race’s illnesses, while Xu Du obtained the Shennong Cauldron, a medicinal pestle, and Hundred Herbs Pills from Zhen Yuanzi for him.
  • Shennong used the three treasures to speed his work for more than a hundred thousand years, as the Saints occupied newly formed Immortal Realm territories and maintained their designs on the Human Race.

Ch. 1965Nüwa's Tribulation, Divine Materia Medica Canon

The Saints’ scheme to drive the Human Race and Dragon Race apart began when the Dragon Race prince killed Shennong’s daughter Nüwa, but Yellow Bird restored her through her Azure Nether reincarnation and punished the prince. The two races reconciled, while Shennong entered seclusion to finish his work and eventually completed Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica.

  • The Saints manipulated Nüwa and a Dragon Race prince into meeting by the shore, where the prince killed her with Samadhi True Water.
  • Yellow Bird revived Nüwa’s Jingwei essence soul with holy water, awakening memories of her past life as Azure Nether, and punished the prince after he tried to steal the holy water.
  • Xu Du revealed that Nüwa was Shennong’s daughter, and Yellow Bird destroyed the prince’s body while leaving his damaged primordial spirit to the Dragon Race.
  • Ancestral Dragon and Shennong settled the conflict, restoring the Human Race and Dragon Race’s relationship, while the Saints later realized their scheme had failed.

  • Xuanyuan won the Human Race leaders’ agreement to dissolve their tribes, began reforms, and spent ten thousand years preparing his army while outside powers aided him.
  • Cangjie created three thousand characters, revealed that he had been Hong Yun, and recognized Xuanyuan as Co-Lord; his achievement greatly strengthened Human Race fortune.
  • The Golden-Winged Roc’s forces oppressed western humans, so Xuanyuan accepted Chi You’s pledge of neutrality and led the Human Race and its allies west to war.
  • During the battle, Xuanyuan’s twelve junior brothers sacrificed themselves to protect him, and he used the Xuanyuan Sword to channel the Human Race’s will and destroy the enemy formation.

Ch. 1968Saints Are No Different from Ants, Punishment

Taichu returned to Hong Huang, overwhelmed the Five Saints, and punished them for threatening the world’s safety, confiscating treasures and suppressing them until they repaid their karmic debts. After warning his disciples and returning stolen treasures, he left the races to settle their own disputes, and Xuanyuan chose Roc’s death.

  • Taichu descended in a purple lotus, explained that he had protected Hong Huang for Pangu and its living beings, then condemned the Five Saints for using the world’s destruction as leverage.
  • Taichu suppressed Tongtian, Laozi, Jieyin, Yuanshi, and Zhunti, chained them at Hong Huang’s edge, weakened their cultivation, and confiscated their treasures; Hongjun arrived and agreed to let the punishment stand.
  • Taichu warned Nuwa and Zhen Yuanzi, returned the stolen spirit treasures to Styx and the other mighty figures, and told the Saints’ disciples to earn merit to repay their teachers’ debts.
  • Xuanyuan refused Ancestral Phoenix’s plea to spare Roc, and Taichu killed Roc while allowing his soul to enter reincarnation.
  • Taichu rebuked Xuanyuan for seeking his protection, told the races to resolve their own conflicts, and departed with the Saints’ disciples.

Ch. 1969Five Emperors, Houtu and Wuji

Xuanyuan completed his merit and passed the Human Race’s co-rulership to Zhuanxu, beginning the era of the Five Emperors, which ended with Yu the Great’s achievements and the rise of the Xia dynasty. After the Three Realms formed, Houtu became a Wuji Sage, shaking the powerful figures across Hong Huang and prompting Zhen Yuanzi to reconsider his path to transcendence.

  • Xuanyuan completed his merit, attained the quasi-Saint realm, and abdicated the co-ruler position to Zhuanxu, while Jin Ling severed her first corpse.

  • Shennong rallied the Human Race with the words “Humans shall conquer heaven,” while Zhen Yuanzi concluded that his path was to unite the Three Corpses, break free of the Hongmeng Purple Qi, and become a Hunyuan Da Luo Golden Immortal.

Ch. 1970Enfeoffing Saints, Campaign of Conquest

Hongjun and Primordial Beginning granted five strands of Hongmeng Purple Qi, and Ancestral Dragon, Ancestral Phoenix, Ancestral Qilin, Zhu Jiuyin, and Dijun became Saints. They then summoned the factions to begin Hong Huang’s campaign against minor worlds, leaving the assembled forces ready to attack while learning that Hong Huang’s Heavenly Dao would do the decisive work.

  • Ancestral Dragon, Ancestral Phoenix, Ancestral Qilin, Zhu Jiuyin, and Dijun each became Saints, shocking the Three Realms and renewing the strength of their races.
  • Dijun learned that the Dragon Race was fighting intelligent vicious beasts from the Endless Dark Sea, but he chose to wait for Primordial Beginning’s orders instead of intervening.
  • Primordial Beginning summoned the five new Saints and the factions’ leaders, including Xuantian and one hundred thousand Da Luo cultivators, and explained the first campaigns against the Divine Punishment God Realm and the World of Fire.
  • When Xuanyuan asked whether they should kill the races in the Divine Punishment world, Primordial Beginning said their task was to hasten the campaign while Hong Huang’s Heavenly Dao devoured the small world’s origin and rules.

Ch. 1971The Zixiao Resolution, Xuantian the Bystander

Primordial Beginning led Hong Huang’s factions into the World of Fire, where they overcame the world’s suppression and routed its defenders. As Primordial Beginning prepared to confront the world’s consciousness, the factions advanced across the realm and captured Divine Punishment World survivors for information about their next target.

  • Primordial Beginning assembled nearly fifty elite fighters and led them into chaos, where the four sacred beasts gave him White Tiger’s jade slip to prepare for future invasions.
  • Primordial Beginning entered the World of Fire but found its army waiting for him, so he returned to chaos and ordered the Five Saints and Quasi-Saints to attack together.

With the annexation underway, Primordial Beginning gathered the armies and set out to attack the Divine Punishment Minor World.

  • The Saints’ disciples killed the World of Fire’s last defenders, then split up to claim merit, while Duobao led the Interception Sect toward the Heavenly Court’s route to take its credit.

Xuantian confronted the Saints over the Investiture Tribulation, arranged for his corpses and thousands of Human Race disciples to enter the Investiture, and gained Heavenly Court positions for Yellow Springs and Haoran. As he cultivated, Jieyin and Zhunti founded the Buddhist Sect, drawing fortune from the Xuan Sect and appointing its first Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
