At the deepest part of the gourd-shaped valley, Xuan Shan's robes fluttered in the wind.
Pei Ling stood on the empty, barren ground. Sparse plants that had survived in the mountain's shade grew in a tangled mass, partially concealing a ruined altar.
Judging by its foundations, the altar must once have been magnificent in scale.
Now, however, after being ravaged by the passage of time, it had collapsed and decayed, leaving behind only a waist-high ruin. When the mountain wind blew, it still rustled, continuing to disappear into the river of time.
The ruined altar, half-buried in weeds, was covered in incomplete talismans and formation patterns, all their spiritual light gone. Fragments appeared here and there, seeming to tell of its former glory.

Yet more shocking than the altar was a streak of crimson moonlight pouring down from the high heavens. After being partially obscured by the mountains, it looked like a slanting Heavenly Pillar, shining straight down upon the altar.
The earthen platform, built of yellow soil, was instantly stained with blood-red, its scarlet hue vivid and dripping.
Beneath the altar, the vast valley was filled with countless shadowy figures.
