The two sides of the valley had one thing in common: a short distance beneath the ridge, the depths were filled with multicolored miasma.

The miasma was so dense that they couldn't see what lay within, but they could hear countless rustling noises, like silkworms munching on leaves or snakes and insects slithering through the undergrowth. The sounds were soft and constant, enough to make their skin crawl.

"Be careful." Even Ouyang Xianxing grew solemn. She turned her head to warn Pei Ling before following Fang Ji onto the narrow ridge.
