Ch. 282Attack and Defense

The Wind Wolf Southern Region Army launched repeated attacks on Ronghua City, but the city repelled them until Duke Muhua arrived with a secret weapon. Magic Restriction Stones disabled the city’s defenses and turned the battle into a desperate fight atop the walls, where energy began to return just as the Ronghua City Lord’s position became threatened.

  • Earl Mai Chai led a massive assault on Ronghua City, but its spells and defenses devastated the Wind Wolf Southern Region Army and forced the survivors to retreat.
  • The Elf Queen and her officials argued over whether to counterattack or defend, and how to handle Princess Milly and Duke Muhua’s other children.
  • After several more failed assaults, Duke Muhua arrived with two supply carts and told Earl Mai Chai to capture Ronghua City while the Southern Region forces gathered.
  • Earl Mai Chai attacked again at night, and his elite soldiers used Magic Restriction Stones to disable Ronghua City’s defensive array and weaken magic.
  • Human Knights climbed the walls and overwhelmed the Half-elf defenders, while the Ronghua City Lord refused to retreat and her children joined the fighting.
  • As the Ronghua City Lord’s position came under threat, people on the battlefield began to regain the ability to use energy.

Ch. 283Playing Cards

Earl Mai Chai's forces breached Ronghua City despite the Ronghua City Lord's desperate defense, and the city held out until Elf Race reinforcements arrived. Meanwhile, Parr and his companions played cards while guarding the Forest Pool, until Parr detected a large group of approaching Magic Beasts.

  • Earl Mai Chai used a second wave of Magic Restriction Stones, and the Ronghua City Lord animated the Black Iron Wood City Wall's branches to drive back his soldiers.
  • Earl Mai Chai led another charge, broke through Ronghua City's defenses, and forced the exhausted Ronghua City Lord's children to evacuate her while her eldest son organized resistance inside the city.
  • Earl Mai Chai's soldiers looted the city and attacked residents as the Half-elf Hunters tried to delay them; reinforcements from a nearby Elf Race city finally arrived.
  • Parr, Karina, and A Wang played Snatching Noble in their tent while A Miao slept, and Karina suspected Parr was using his Jewel Staff to cheat.
  • Parr detected many approaching Magic Beasts, and he and Karina and A Wang went to the tent entrance to face them.

Ch. 284Devouring Earthworm

An elderly Half-elf used a potion to drive Magic Beasts toward Parr, Karina, and A Wang, but a Devouring Earthworm killed him before his scheme could unfold. After A Wang unleashed a powerful attack and scared off the beasts, the Devouring Earthworm advanced, and A Miao ran out to stop Parr from fighting it.

  • An elderly Half-elf scattered a potion that enraged nearby Magic Beasts and sent them toward the Forest Pool.
  • Parr detected the Half-elf, but a Devouring Earthworm erupted from beneath him and devoured him before he could escape.
  • Parr fought off the first Magic Beasts, then A Wang unleashed a huge wind attack that cleared a path and sent the remaining beasts fleeing.
  • The Devouring Earthworm resisted A Wang’s next punch, and Karina explained its valuable hide, teeth, and flesh.
  • Parr prepared to use Great Treasure Sword mode against the Devouring Earthworm, but A Miao ran out of the tent and blocked his way.

Ch. 285Unknown Ruins

A Miao used Nian Ling’s soul-attacking sword technique to kill the Devouring Earthworm, and Parr discovered signs of buried Elf Race Ruins. The group chose to explore the Ruins instead of entering the Magic Potion Maker Competition, while the Elf Race abandoned Ronghua City and evacuated its residents.

  • Nian Ling guided A Miao to unleash a sword strike that killed the charging Devouring Earthworm, exhausting A Miao and revealing her strength to Parr, A Wang, and Karina.
  • Nian Ling questioned A Wang in a dreamlike white space about the Way of Thought’s lost inheritance, and A Wang identified herself as a disciple of the Sword Saint School.
  • Parr found a golden shard and carved stones near the Devouring Earthworm’s hole, and Karina and A Wang recognized them as signs of buried Elf Race Ruins.
  • Parr, A Miao, A Wang, and Karina agreed to skip the Magic Potion Maker Competition and jumped into the hole to explore the Ruins.
  • The Elf Race withdrew from Ronghua City and began evacuating its residents after learning that Duke Muhua’s main force would arrive before their reinforcements.

Ch. 286Elf Queen

Earl Mai Chai’s soldiers looted Ronghua City after the Elf evacuation, while Duke Muhua ordered Earl Mai Chai to pursue the evacuees. The Elf Queen’s leaders prepared to defend their cities and wait for the Wind Wolf Royal Family to intervene, then the Queen visited a hidden chamber where Catherine Yongge was overseeing work around a mysterious hole and the Queen began channeling energy through a statue.

  • Earl Mai Chai’s soldiers plundered Ronghua City, and frightened residents and outsiders sought shelter in the Adventurers’ Association.
  • Duke Muhua arrived with an army, ordered Earl Mai Chai to pursue the evacuees, and assigned three thousand cavalry to help delay them.
  • The Elf Queen and her officials condemned Duke Muhua’s use of Magic Restriction Stone and decided to reinforce White Rose City while recruiting adventurers to defend their cities.
  • The Elf Queen visited an underground chamber where Catherine Yongge said the work would take about a month to finish, or half a month with help from the competition’s Magic Potion Makers.
  • The Elf Queen prayed to the God of Life beside a statue surrounded by weapons, then placed her hands on its shoulders as emerald energy gathered around her.

Ch. 287Underground Urns

Parr, A Wang, Karina, and A Miao explored an ancient underground corridor and discovered rooms full of urns honoring warriors who died in the Holy City Defense War. They collected more than ten thousand urns containing the warriors’ personal belongings and turned back, determined to bring them out of the darkness.

  • Parr and the others examined ancient battle murals that A Wang recognized as possibly connected to the Demon Calamity a thousand years earlier.
  • After finding their route blocked, Parr used his Jewel Staff to locate a hidden door, and A Wang smashed it open.
  • The group discovered a room of urns commemorating warriors of several races who died on the same day during the Holy City Defense War.
  • Karina broke a water-damaged urn and found a named personal item inside, leading Parr to discover that the warriors had prepared the urns themselves in place of their missing remains.
  • Parr, A Wang, Karina, and A Miao opened more hidden rooms, collected over ten thousand urns, and headed back toward the corridor damaged by the Devouring Earthworm.

Ch. 288What Do You Want?

Parr and his companions rested and shared hot pot while he planned future travels. Meanwhile, Mary’s enemies plotted to seize the Golden Dragonfly territory, but a red-haired Black Armored Man slaughtered them and told You Ling Yi she wanted to take back what she had lost.

  • Parr prepared hot pot for Karina, A Miao, and A Wang, and Karina recalled eating a rougher version in dwarf taverns.
  • Gold Crystal Fortress prospered as tolls funded supplies, while rumors spread that Mary had eliminated claimants to control the Golden Dragonfly Family.
  • Nobles conspired to kill Mary and divide the Golden Dragonfly territory, but a Black Armored Man stormed their gathering and killed them and their guards.
  • The Black Armored Man gathered more than a hundred armored followers, then confronted You Ling Yi, who said the duke could help her reclaim what she had lost.

Ch. 289Digging Downward

Duke Muhua framed Earl Mai Chai for the atrocities in Ronghua City, executed him before White Rose City, and gained the Elf Queen’s cautious approval. Meanwhile, Parr and his companions descended through the Ruins, digging through a collapse to continue their exploration.

  • Duke Muhua arrested Earl Mai Chai’s remaining soldiers in Ronghua City, blamed the city’s attack and abuses on Mai Chai, and had the soldiers executed before the victims.
  • Duke Muhua caught up with Earl Mai Chai near White Rose City, knocked him unconscious, then brought him to the city and beheaded him while apologizing to the Elf Race.
  • The Elf Queen and the Elf Race’s leaders debated Duke Muhua’s claims before agreeing to trust him temporarily while remaining on guard.
  • Parr led A Miao, Karina, and A Wang down a broken staircase into wider underground corridors covered with murals of a giant tree.
  • Parr’s group continued descending through the Ruins, and A Wang dug through a collapsed passage so they could proceed.

Ch. 290Magic Barrier Blocking the Way

Parr and his companions found a Magic Barrier beneath the Ruins and used Devouring Earthworm skin to pass through it. Meanwhile, Duke Muhua received a message from an arrogant woman who had entered the Lost Holy City and planned to obtain its Sacred Object within three days.

  • Parr noticed the elemental motes growing more active as he and his companions explored deeper underground, and they followed them to a tunnel blocked by a Magic Barrier.
  • A Wang concluded that the Devouring Earthworm had come from inside the barrier, and Parr realized its skin could deflect the barrier’s energy.
  • Parr harvested pieces of the Devouring Earthworm’s skin and passed through the Magic Barrier, then beckoned Karina, A Wang, and A Miao to follow.
  • A Half-elf delivered a necklace to Duke Muhua, who activated it and heard a woman announce that she had entered the Lost Holy City and would seek its Sacred Object within three days.

Ch. 291Holy City: City of Life

Duke Muhua launched a full assault on White Rose City while Parr and the others explored the ruins of the Holy City, discovering its true name was City of Life. As Parr’s group settled in for the night, two armed groups confronted each other elsewhere in the ruined city.

  • Duke Muhua ordered an attack on White Rose City after losing contact with Greenwood, and he used a fabricated negotiation story to justify the assault and delay the Wind Wolf Royal Family’s intervention.
  • Duke Muhua’s hundred thousand troops attacked White Rose City for three days, but the city held and both sides regrouped as Wind Wolf Southern Region reinforcements entered Elf territory.
  • Parr and the others passed through the Magic Barrier and found a vast, ruined white city with no visible bodies and a plaque identifying it as City of Life.
  • The Seven-Colored Little Deer recognized the plaque and recalled how the Elf village had grown into the Holy City, which later vanished during the Demon Calamity.
  • Parr and the others searched the ruins for hours, collected ancient metal objects, and prepared dinner before resting.
  • Elsewhere in City of Life, a group of mages led by a gaunt, red-haired old man faced off against Elf Rangers.

Ch. 292Shalin

Shalin reunited with Philip in the Underground Holy City and learned that the Tian Xing Society was searching for demons for a secret plan connected to the eastern Underground Abyss. Meanwhile, Parr and his companions encountered a Devouring Earthworm, and after he killed it, more worms appeared as the city's light suddenly dimmed.

  • Shalin revealed herself to Philip, who abandoned his mission to embrace her, and their two groups set aside their hostility.
  • Philip told Shalin that the Tian Xing Society needed to capture demons and hinted that its secret plan involved the eastern Underground Abyss.
  • Philip and his apprentices searched the city alongside Shalin and her Half-elves, while Parr, Karina, A Miao, and A Wang continued deeper into it after breakfast.
  • A Wang and A Miao failed to hurt a Devouring Earthworm, so Parr enlarged his Black Short Sword into a forty-meter blade and split the creature in two.
  • More than a dozen Devouring Earthworms burst from the ground, the Magic Barrier dimmed, and Parr's group spotted many people ahead.

Ch. 293Mutation

Parr and his companions survived Holy City's sudden blackout and the arrival of black figures, then headed toward the emerald crescent moon at the city's center. Philip and Shalin also reached the central district, where Black Bone Warriors attacked their group.

  • Devouring Earthworms emerged as Holy City's lights and Glowing Crystals failed, and Parr used Bright Eyes to discover that an unknown energy was suppressing light.
  • Black figures fell from the Magic Barrier, and A Wang deployed her Spirit Tool Disc to shield the group until an emerald crescent moon rose and illuminated the city.
  • The black figures took on the forms of warriors and fought each other, while Devouring Earthworms devoured the fallen; Parr, Karina, A Miao, and A Wang left for the central district.
  • Philip identified the figures as consciousnesses tainted by demonic power and recognized the crescent moon's life energy, while Shalin asked him to obtain it for her.
  • Philip's group reached the temple district, where an arrow triggered a fight with Black Bone Warriors, and Philip used a fire serpent to smash those charging from a building.

Ch. 294No Need to Fear the Darkness

Philip's group fought through the Black Bone Warriors while Parr discovered that his Black Short Sword kept them from harming his party. After gathering treasures and reaching the Holy City's central area, Parr's group saw a huge fire eruption destroy the temple's protective light and sensed unusual spatial fluctuations around it.

  • Philip and his apprentices battled waves of Black Bone Warriors as they pushed toward the Holy City's center.
  • Parr realized the Black Bone Warriors were focused on his Black Short Sword and concluded that the weapon let his group pass without fear of Dark Attribute Energy.
  • Parr's group searched buildings and found a wooden sword, a painting, a gauze dress, seeds, and other items.
  • The crescent moon descended as the black figures vanished, and Parr's group hurried toward the temple.
  • A massive pillar of fire erupted near the temple, and Parr's group found its protective light gone and suspected other people had entered.
  • Parr sensed unusual spatial fluctuations around the temple and stopped the others from approaching.

Ch. 295Within the Temple

Philip and his group entered the temple, where Shalin pursued the emerald gemstone and demons rose to weaken the seal on the Dark Coffin. Parr and his companions arrived, and Philip attacked them to keep the temple's secrets hidden, leaving Parr and A Wang to face him.

  • Philip shattered the temple's aging magic defense with a nine-star spell, and he and his group were teleported into a hall containing the gemstone, fallen Elves, and a sealed Dark Coffin.
  • Philip suffered magical backlash while Shalin led her daughters toward the gemstone, and the being inside the coffin awakened the intact corpses as Demons.
  • The Demons blocked the sacred words on the walls, weakening the light that restrained the coffin, so Philip ordered his apprentices to fight while he tried to stop them.
  • Parr and his companions entered the hall, and Philip attacked them with fireballs because he feared they would expose the Tian Xing Restoration Society.
  • Parr deflected Philip's attacks, ordered Karina to take A Miao away, and A Wang joined the fight by launching an illusory fist at Philip.

Ch. 296Fierce Battle

Parr fought Philip in the hall, then disrupted the mage’s prepared spell and brought him down. Shalin escaped with the Fragmented Gem, freeing the Dark Coffin as Philip sacrificed himself to cover his apprentices’ retreat.

  • Parr dodged Philip’s fire attacks and charged through Meteor Fire Rain using his shields, but Philip’s explosive magic shields blasted him back twice.
  • Philip offered to take Parr as an apprentice, but Shalin fired at Parr and ordered her daughters to attack him and his companions.
  • Parr used Black Qi Blades to destroy the nodes of Philip’s prepared Magic Array, causing the spell to backfire and Philip to collapse.
  • Shalin took the Fragmented Gem and fled with her daughters, removing the coffin’s suppression and unleashing darkness and laughter from within.
  • Philip burned away his body to preserve his eight-star soul and robe, then ordered his apprentices to complete their mission as darkness engulfed the hall.

Ch. 297Demonization LV5

Philip freed the Black Hair God, Thorso, who overwhelmed the magicians and trapped Parr’s companions in darkness. Parr killed Thorso by upgrading Demonization to LV5, then absorbed energy and obtained a Mysterious Element, which he used to upgrade Bright Eyes.

  • Philip opened the Dark Coffin and released the Black Hair God, who subdued Philip and his apprentices while A Wang’s radiance protected her, Karina, and A Miao.
  • Parr confronted Thorso and struck him with the black Great Treasure Sword, which Thorso became obsessed with as it cut into his core.
  • Parr upgraded Demonization to LV5, gained enough strength to control the sword, and split Thorso in two.
  • Thorso’s death shattered the demon marks on the Corpse Demon Race and killed Philip’s seven apprentices, while Parr absorbed 10,000 Life Energy Points and 10,000 Mental Energy Points.
  • Parr obtained a Mysterious Element from Thorso and chose to upgrade Bright Eyes.

Ch. 298MAX Clear Eye

Parr awakened after upgrading Bright Eyes to MAX and discovered its ability to see through all things and create a darkness that only he could see through. After escaping the temple with Karina, A Miao, and A Wang, he used the Book of Death to turn a Demon Mark into a Demon Soul, then found that Felice had returned to her adult form and was surrounded by deathly energy.

  • Parr collapsed from the pain of upgrading Bright Eyes, and Karina, A Miao, and A Wang watched over him until he woke the next day.
  • Parr discovered that MAX Clear Eye let him see through objects and unleash Darkness Descends, which blinded everyone else within a radius of two hundred meters.
  • Parr led the girls out of the hall and away from the temple after confirming that Shalin's group had escaped.
  • During their journey and overnight rest, A Wang grew uneasy about a gaze she suspected had seen through her disguise, while Parr concealed his new ability.
  • Inside the Palm God Kingdom, Parr used the Book of Death to turn a Demon Mark into a Demon Soul and gained one hundred Mental Energy Points.
  • Parr opened Felice's coffin and saw that she had returned to her adult form, surrounded by gray energy and a deathly rune.

Ch. 299Taking the Holy City

Parr and his companions escaped the Holy City, and he used the Seven-Colored Little Deer to shrink and store the city, its Magic Barrier, and the Spirit Vein. They emerged from the Primeval Forest and headed toward Evergreen City, where they stopped to rest on the road.

  • Parr freed the souls of Philip's seven apprentices, learned how Philip's group had reached the Holy City, and left the Palm God Kingdom while Felice pretended to sleep.
  • Parr led Karina, A Wang, and A Miao through the Magic Barrier and used a long-distance teleportation Magic Array to send them out of the underground cave.
  • Parr had the Seven-Colored Little Deer shrink and store the Holy City and its Magic Barrier in the Myriad Leaves Tree Space, while it also took the Spirit Vein beneath the city.
  • Parr teleported to join the three women, and they escaped the collapsing cave through the Ruins and emerged beside a waterfall in the Primeval Forest.
  • The four flew toward Evergreen City, then landed on the main road to rest; A Wang worried about facing Xiao Guo, and hoofbeats interrupted them as they ate wild fruit.

Ch. 300Entering Evergreen City

Parr and his companions reached Evergreen City, where A Wang learned more about the war between the Elf Race and Duke Muhua and sought the Elf Queen’s help. The group also discovered that Xiao Guo had disappeared, while Parr recognized the cultists’ scheme behind Duke Muhua’s attack.

  • A Wang paid adventurers for news and learned that Duke Muhua had attacked the Elf Race, so she asked Parr to hurry her to Evergreen City.
  • At Evergreen City, A Miao’s Silver Bell revealed Nian Ling to the Sword Saint Shou Mo, who knelt and called A Miao Ancestor.
  • The Sword Saint Shou Mo explained that Duke Muhua had attacked the Elf Race under the pretext of avenging his son, and Parr recognized the cultists’ plot.
  • The Elf Queen observed the arrival, ordered an investigation, and learned that only one trustworthy Magic Potion Maker had been selected for the competition.
  • A Wang learned that Xiao Guo had vanished after visiting the Elf Palace, and concluded that Xiao Guo might have betrayed her.
  • A Wang resumed her identity as Princess Milly, visited the Elf Queen, and met her mother, the Elf Queen’s captain of the guard.

Ch. 301End of Volume

Parr left A Miao with Sword Saint Shou Mo and Nian Ling, then secretly moved through Evergreen City disguised as Greenwood. Meanwhile, Princess Milly learned the war would not end through persuasion, Shalin plotted to advance Xiao Guo’s claim to princess, and the Elf Queen discovered a remarkably pure seasoning brought back by Karina.

  • Parr left A Miao behind, and Nian Ling questioned Sword Saint Shou Mo about the Way of Thought’s inheritance.
  • Princess Milly offered to persuade Duke Muhua to end the war, but the Elf Queen explained that he intended to conquer the Elf Race and held the advantage after taking Ronghua City.
  • Shalin learned Princess Milly had survived, sent a letter through a subordinate, and told Xiao Guo that she still wanted her to become a princess.
  • The Elf Queen recognized Shalin in a magical image and promised to investigate her involvement in recent events.
  • Catherine showed the Elf Queen a packet of unusually pure powder that Karina had brought back, and the Queen demanded to know who had refined it.
  • Parr made several turns through Evergreen City and disguised himself as Greenwood.
