Background

Haku was initially introduced as a three- or four-year-old child in the Land of Water whose Ice Release had not yet awakened. Uchiha Kin warned Haku’s mother that an uncontrolled awakening would endanger both Haku and his family under the Bloody Mist’s persecution of bloodline users. He persuaded her to entrust Haku to him, intending to give Haku safety, education, and a life without concealing his bloodline. Kin also intended Haku to become Kimimaro’s playmate. 107

Haku later disclosed that he was actually Uchiha Gin, Uchiha Kin’s clone operating under the codename “Haku.” Unlike a shadow clone, he is a physical entity with independent thoughts; Minato could not identify any flaw in his construction. 130 143

Minato brought Haku to Konoha so that Kushina could teach him Sealing Techniques. Haku stayed in a room originally prepared for Minato and Kushina’s future child, and Kushina quickly became his primary mentor. 131 133
