Su Yu had just set his tray on the table and had yet to pick up his chopsticks when Xiao Wu fixed him with an unblinking stare.
"Hey! Su Yu, what happened to your lips?"
Xiao Wu's voice was filled with undisguised curiosity. As she spoke, she grabbed Zhu Qing beside her and pulled her over.
"Zhu Qing, look! Su Yu's lips are split! Did he get into a fight?"
Following her gaze, Zhu Qing looked over and saw that Su Yu's lower lip indeed had a small cut.
There was a trace of swelling around it. She raised an eyebrow but said nothing, only a knowing look flashing through her eyes.
Caught off guard by the question, Su Yu instinctively touched his lips and met Xiao Wu's wide eyes, which clearly said, Explain yourself!
Then he glanced at Ning Rongrong beside him—the young girl had buried her entire face in her bowl of porridge.
Her shoulders trembled slightly, and even the tips of her ears were flushed red. Her little feet in their leather shoes rubbed restlessly beneath the table, as if they were about to dig out an entire three-bedroom apartment!
He couldn't help letting out a quiet laugh and vaguely changed the subject.
"It's nothing. I accidentally scraped it against the rim of a cup while drinking water last night."
"Huh? Really?"
Xiao Wu was clearly suspicious. She blinked and was about to ask more when Zhu Qing quietly tugged at her sleeve.
Zhu Qing glanced meaningfully at Ning Rongrong, who looked as though she wished she could bury her head in the ground.
Only then did Xiao Wu belatedly catch on. She looked at Su Yu, then at Ning Rongrong.
Suddenly, she let out an "Oh," her face lighting up with realization as a mischievous smile
