Generally speaking, Spell Turrets with extremely complex craftsmanship and structures were not things one could create at will.
After years of accumulated experience, several relatively stable and outstanding Spell Turrets had emerged.
For instance, the "Tomb Turret" was loaded with four seventh-ring Cleric Divine Spells: Lawful Word, Banishment, Disintegrate, and Summon Level 7 Monster. It was specifically placed deep within tombs and showed no mercy to intruders.
The "Sacred Forest Turret," designed specifically to protect forests, was loaded with fifth-ring Druid Divine Spells: Summon Nature Ally V, Stoneskin Spell, Animal Growth, and Summon Lightning Storm. Essentially, it first summoned an animal, then enhanced it with the latter two spells, and finally unleashed a lightning storm to suppress the battlefield. Even when outnumbered, it could still turn the situation around.
The "Vault Turret" that Wizards commonly set up in their private strongholds carried fourth-circle Wizard Arcane Spells: Confusion, Phantom Killer, Fear Spell, and Ice Storm. Its main purpose was obstruction and suppression, allowing it to entangle or even control opponents until its owner returned, making subsequent intelligence gathering easier.
However, what most Mystra magic apprentices saw most often was the "Mage Guild Turret," directly equipped with ninth-ring Wizard Arcane Spells—Energy Drain, Meteor Swarm, Word of Death, and Imprisonment Spell.
Among them, Meteor Swarm mainly created massive displays of light and shadow to draw everyone's attention, while the other three were all capable of killing. Weakening, death, and imprisonment—the three attacks each launched their own offensive.
It could be said that these turrets were all carefully configured around their particular purposes.
Thus, while they served important functions in their intended roles, they also exposed weaknesses that could easily be exploited.
