Over the next few days, Qian Xunji familiarized himself with his own strength while gathering information about Spirit Hall.
Through his experiences over the past few days, Qian Xunji had come to clearly understand that his combat experience—including his reflexes, explosive power, practical fighting ability, and more—was still immature. No wonder his original self had been beaten so badly by Tang Hao, who had only just entered Level Ninety, despite possessing Level Ninety-five Soul Power in the original work. Level Ninety-five was already extremely close to the realm of a Super Douluo; the depth of one's Soul Power was on an entirely different level. Yet he had still been defeated by Tang Hao. The difference was not merely in Soul Power Level, but more importantly in combat awareness, fighting techniques, and one's own Aura.
Therefore, if Qian Xunji wanted to grow stronger, he could not remain forever beneath Qian Daoliu's Wings. Granted, Qian Daoliu's thigh was indeed thick. [A Level Ninety-nine Peerless Douluo was practically the ceiling of Douluo Continent. Of course it was thick.] But that was not what Qian Xunji wanted. Only he himself could be his greatest support. It was a truth he had understood since childhood.
People were unequal from birth. Some were born with golden keys in their mouths, like Qian Xunji. As the son of a Level Ninety-nine Peerless Douluo, all of Spirit Hall's resources had been poured into him, allowing him to achieve so much at such a young age. But what about those born less fortunate than him? They could only obtain resources themselves and fight others for them.
Thus, Qian Xunji resolved that he absolutely would not squander everything he now possessed, and that he would cultivate diligently.
After sorting this out, Qian Xunji developed the idea of going out to gain experience. However, he had no clear objective at the moment and did not even know the roads, so he needed to plan things carefully.
Thus, Qian Xunji skillfully made his way into a spacious corridor. After walking for a while, he arrived before an enormous wooden door, likely made from a plant Soul Beast that was at least ten thousand years old. The door was left slightly ajar, and Qian Xunji pushed it open. This was Spirit Hall's library, a separate building within the complex. Connected to many other buildings, it was a facility shared by nearly all the halls. The entrance Qian Xunji had used led to the library's uppermost floor, accessible only from the Pope's Palace and Worship Hall.
Upon entering the library, the stone flooring of the outer hall abruptly gave way to wood. It had been laid with great precision, and the wood bore natural patterns without a single scratch or sign of wear. It did not even need waxing. This was the floor just below the Top Floor of the library. The space was not particularly large, and the curvature of the ceiling was visible, clearly showing that this was near the top of the entire building.
There was a fairly large area by the entrance, with a wooden table and two comfortable upholstered recliners. Leaning in them were two men who appeared middle-aged. Who else could they be but Thousand Jun and Jiang Mo? Their usual idle duty was to guard the floor just below the Top Floor of the library.
"Uncle Qian Jun, Uncle Jiang Mo." Qian Xunji greeted them.
"Greetings, Your Highness the Holy Son." The two returned his greeting.
"May I ask what brings Your Highness the Holy Son here?"
"Oh, I came to the library to look up some ancient texts. It's nothing important," Qian Xunji said.
"Please make yourself at home, Your Highness the Holy Son," Qian Jun replied.
Qian Xunji then began walking toward the bookshelves marked with various labels. As he took a step forward, the solid yet slightly soft feel of the wooden floor came through beneath his feet. The entire library faintly exuded the fragrance of books. It was a unique scent formed from worm-repelling rue, books written in fine pine-soot ink, and the subtle smell of wood. It was unlike anywhere else in Spirit Hall, giving Qian Xunji a different feeling. Such an aroma and environment, which could make one unconsciously fall in love with books, were exceedingly rare.
Qian Xunji slowly passed through each bookshelf, carefully taking down anything useful and resting it on his arm. He found a table and sat down. Once seated, he remained there for the entire afternoon. Qian Xunji plunged into the vast sea of books like a fish entering the ocean, forgetting the passage of time.
Over the next few months, Qian Xunji studied at the Martial Soul Hall Library while seeking guidance from the various Worships. His strength steadily improved.
Through his studies over those months, Qian Xunji gained a general understanding of the layout of Douluo Continent. Douluo Continent was vast. Beyond Spirit Hall and the Two Great Empires, there was the City of Slaughter, known as the feast of slaughterers and the paradise of Evil Soul Masters; the perilous Sea God Island; and countless secret realms. It could be said that Douluo Continent was a treasure land where risks and opportunities went hand in hand, depending on how one chose to explore it. Even so, this could not discourage Qian Xunji. It only strengthened his resolve.
