"Wang, I wanted to ask you something. Have you ever considered going back to the Lakers?"
Wang Yi took a sip of water and smiled as he shook his head. "No chance."
He turned Vanessa down without hesitation.
Vanessa had clearly expected that answer from Wang Yi.
Given his personality, he'd practically been forced out in the first place. How could he possibly go back to the Lakers?
Vanessa sighed. "Jenny Bass really did make a mistake back then. And it was a huge one. She regrets it every day now. She told me that if you were willing to return to the Lakers, she'd pay any price. She just hopes you'll give her a chance."
Wang Yi only smiled. "Sometimes, you only get one chance."
Vanessa gave a bitter smile, then continued, "I think Koko's dad would want to see you return to the Lakers, too."
Vanessa hadn't wanted to say something like that.
But without saying it, there was no chance Wang Yi would even consider returning to the Lakers.
She could only hope that he might give it some thought for Koko's dad's sake.
After all, Wang Yi had mentioned in interviews several times that he looked up to Kobe Bryant in training, and that Kobe had always inspired him.
Maybe that would help, even a little.
But Wang Yi only shook his head and asked, "If it were him, would he go back to the Lakers?"
