Wang Yi got the ball. Everyone in the arena was utterly astonished by what they saw.
He'd looked certain to miss it completely, yet somehow he'd still managed to get his hands on the ball. What kind of freakish talent was that?
After Wang Yi got the ball, the players on either side of him were already stumbling around. Only Rose was still right behind him.
Wang Yi drove straight into the paint.
Rose knew it would be difficult to stop Wang Yi in his current state, but he wasn't about to give up.
He lunged from behind Wang Yi,
trying to block his shot.
Wang Yi jumped from the free-throw line, and Rose leaped after him, swinging his arm over Wang Yi's head toward the ball. Even if he had to hit Wang Yi's hand, he was going to knock him out of the air.
But Wang Yi only raised his hand and faked a dunk before quickly pulling it back.
After Rose swung his arm over Wang Yi's head, Wang Yi reached behind him and slipped the ball out from under Rose's arm.
Then he gave his wrist a gentle flick.
The ball flew out from behind Rose, sailed over Rose's head and Wang Yi's, then bounced lightly twice on the rim before finally dropping through the basket.
At that moment,
silence!
Madison Square Garden fell completely silent!
The fans in the stands stared in disbelief.
Only after a moment did someone cry out.
"What kind of shot was that? Some kind of circus shot?"
"Oh, fuck me! That actually went in!"
"That was a damn Divine Shot."
Spike Lee, wearing black-rimmed glasses, a baseball cap, and a thick gold chain, stared with eyes as wide as saucers behind his glasses.
That damn shot had actually gone in.
