When head coach Spoelstra and Edwards were asked whether they hadn't slept well,
Spoelstra sighed, ran a hand through his shiny black hair, and said,
"Yes. You know what kind of team the Kings are. Even if Wang Yi isn't playing, even if he isn't on the sidelines, as long as he's with the Kings, they're the toughest team in the league to deal with. You can imagine the pressure that puts on us. I couldn't sleep at all last night."
That explanation made perfect sense.
Any coach would feel immense pressure when facing the Kings.
Edwards glanced at his coach.
Then he spoke up directly.
"Damn, the Kings Hotel is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. Of course I couldn't sleep last night."
The reporters were naturally eager for a juicy story, and they quickly pressed him for more.
"Are you saying the facilities and service at the Kings Hotel aren't as good as people say?"
Edwards heard the trap in the question and quickly shook his head.
"No, the Kings Hotel is one of the best hotels I've ever seen. It has the best facilities, the most advanced equipment, and the best service. It's just that some strange things happened after we checked in last night, so I didn't sleep a wink."
The reporters perked up at that.
"What strange things? Was it about Room 1414?"
Edwards hesitated, then nodded. "That's right."
"Could you tell us more?"
Edwards was about to speak when Spoelstra beside him said,
"Sorry, can we just talk about the game? This is a pregame press conference, not a spooky urban legend show."
Reminded by his head coach, Edwards understood what he meant. So no matter how much the reporters pressed him after that, he said nothing more about the hotel.
