On the next possession, Wang Yi faced Jordan and drove straight to the basket, meeting him in the air with another body-to-body collision.
After the contact, he used the space he'd created by leaning Jordan aside to gather himself and rise for a second effort.
As he released the ball, a seagull happened to fly overhead. The shot seemed to head straight for it, but the bird skimmed over them, and the ball kissed the backboard before dropping through the hoop.
7–2!
It was almost exactly the same move Jordan had just pulled off.
Jordan had the ball next. As the referee passed it to him, he gave a quick feint to the left, then dribbled at once and drove in from the right.
The feint was so fast that even Wang Yi was a little late reacting.
Jordan used the left side of his body to shield Wang Yi as he drove in from the right.
When he was about two meters from the basket, he suddenly slammed on the brakes.
The abrupt stop sent Wang Yi flying past him from the side.
Only then did Jordan jump. Wang Yi had gone past him, but hadn't jumped, so he could quickly turn and rush back.
He got there just as Jordan reached the peak of his jump. In theory, he was perfectly positioned to block the shot.
But Jordan didn't shoot. Even at the top of his leap, he held the ball steady in his hands.
He still didn't release it as he descended. He waited until Wang Yi had flown past him, then, just before his feet were about to touch the ground, he flicked the ball toward the hoop with one hand.
It dropped cleanly through.
7–4.
