Wang Yi hurried under the basket to grab the rebound, but Rukawa followed him there.
He was taller than Wang Yi and could jump higher, too. He plucked the rebound right over Wang Yi's head, but instead of going straight back up for a putback, he dribbled back beyond the three-point line and pulled up for another three.
His three-point shot was nowhere near as accurate as Wang Yi's.
That one still wouldn't go in.
Wang Yi waited under the basket for the rebound, but the ball bounced high enough for Rukawa Rukawa to get back underneath it. Rukawa was nearly a head taller than Wang Yi and could jump higher, too, so he grabbed the ball again.
Then, for the third time, he dribbled out to the three-point line and shot.
This time, the ball hit the backboard, bounced twice between the front and back of the rim, and finally dropped through the net.
The spectators all erupted in cheers.
"Nice shot!"
"Three offensive rebounds in a row! What a beast!"
"Hell yeah!"
The cheers gradually melded into one chant:
"Rukawa!"
"Rukawa!"
"Rukawa!"
After grabbing three offensive rebounds in a row and making the three, Rukawa was fired up. He suddenly swung his right fist through the air and roared, "Aahhh!"
Wang Yi glanced at the scoreboard. The score was now 9:10.
Wang Yi shook his head slightly and smiled at Rukawa.
Rukawa glared at him. "What are you smiling at?"
"I'm laughing because you're on the brink of death and don't even know it. You're still croaking away like a frog at the bottom of a well, or like a fool who thinks the whole world is beneath him. How foolish!"
Rukawa snorted and pointed at Wang Yi. "Enough talk. I'm winning this round."
Wang Yi chuckled.
