Coach Spoelstra was already swamped, constantly sketching defensive plays to prepare for their final possession on defense.
Honestly, defending that last possession was going to be difficult.
They had to guard against a two, guard against a three, and avoid fouling.
And Wang Yi's three-point touch had clearly returned. Everyone knew how high his shooting percentage was on a potential game-winner.
It was incredibly difficult to stop him.
But in a situation like this, even if you knew you couldn't win, you still had to draw up a play for your players.
Still, Spoelstra wasn't all that upset.
Even if Wang Yi took a three, he still wouldn't reach 60 points.
At least they wouldn't let Wang Yi reach a milestone against them.
The Heat players all wore grim expressions, as if they were facing a formidable enemy.
Countless memories of Wang Yi hitting game-winners in the final moments of past games flashed through their minds.
The thought filled them with dread. Just then, their head coach said:
"Boys, don't worry. Don't be afraid. As a head coach, I know I shouldn't say what I'm about to say, but I'm going to say it anyway."
"Tonight, you've already held Wang Yi below 60 points. You've done your job."
"And you've done it very well."
"So the final result of this game, whether we win or lose, isn't that important anymore."
Hearing that, the players felt some of their earlier panic subside.
That was right. They'd already accomplished their goal for tonight: keeping Wang Yi below 60 points.
What did they have to be afraid of? What was there to worry about?
Head coach Spo continued:
"I'll do my best to set you up to defend this last possession. You need to give it everything you've
