Chinese coaches didn't break the game down into such fine detail. After spotting a problem, they usually wouldn't try to fix it immediately. Instead, they'd play another one or two possessions and see how things went.

Maybe the last possession had just been unlucky, and the next one would go better, producing a completely different result.

It was these two entirely different ways of thinking that led the coaches on each side to handle things so differently.

So Wang Yi interrupted the conversation between the coaches and Shan He.

He addressed Shan He directly:

"The reason Aleksandar couldn't stop you was, first, that we drew a lot of defensive attention, and second, that he isn't familiar with your offensive style."

"Next, Phil Jackson will probably switch things up and put someone else on you. I think there's a good chance he'll have the stronger Edwards guard you. He'll probably use his body against you."
