Wang Yi, Fan Zhiyi, and more than a dozen other veterans who truly loved football went to Leganés to inspect the Segunda División team Wang Yi had bought.
When they arrived in Leganés, Wang Yi said to Fan Zhiyi:
"Brother Fan, I don't really know much about football, so I'll be counting on your guidance."
Fan Zhiyi shook his head. "I've looked into Leganés before. Their youth development system, coaching, and other areas are already quite well established. I don't have much to add."
"If I had to say something, it would be that I might have a few suggestions about training players from our country."
"But those are just ideas I have. We don't know enough about the team yet, so let's have a look first."
Wang Yi then took Fan Zhiyi and the others to the team.
When the team's manager and coaches heard that Wang Yi was coming, they all went to the airport to welcome him.
They had never met their owner, but they deeply admired his tremendous achievements on the basketball court and the way he conducted himself.
They were especially impressed when they learned that he had bought the team solely to develop talent for the National Team.
What was more, even though Wang Yi had taken over the club to help train players for the National Team, he hadn't interfered with any of its operations—not even when it came to the kids he had sent over.
He hadn't put undue pressure on the team or demanded that those kids be given playing time.
He had sent them over to be trained according to the local development system, just like everyone else.
The team's managers and coaches felt Wang Yi had made the right choice.
If he had pressured the team to put those
