Doug Lambier injured three Kings players with a single undercut.

Barnes got off relatively lightly. He was back on his feet two minutes later.

Though he was limping, he could still keep playing. But Hield and Bagley remained down for a long time, and their injuries looked more serious.

The team doctor gave them a quick examination and said they might have broken bones.

He told them to go to the locker room for further tests.

But Hield was adamant. "No. I can't leave. I can't sit on the locker room couch and watch the guys fight on without me."

Bagley was usually quiet and didn't say much, but all he did was shake his head and say one word: "No!"
