Seeing Himself in a Newspaper from His Childhood
The neighborhood looked much the same, but his life had changed dramatically.

Two years ago, he had been a failure. Now, he was a success.
Naturally, plenty of people knew him.
A basketball star like him had come from their neighborhood, so everyone knew Wang Yi, from the oldest resident to the youngest child who had just learned to walk.
But he didn't wrap himself up as tightly as other celebrities did.
He just wore a mask.
If it weren't for the pandemic, he wouldn't even have worn one.
That was just the kind of person he was.
Even though he had now won an NBA championship, he still felt that he was just an ordinary person. He was only better at basketball; otherwise, he was no different from anyone else.
He had two eyes and one mouth, just like everyone else. He wasn't missing anything or blessed with anything extra.
To Wang Yi's surprise, the people around him had clearly recognized him, but they didn't all rush over at once.
Just like neighbors, they simply waved at him, nodded and smiled, or said hello.
Wang Yi was a little puzzled. Was this just how people in China were nowadays? Were they no longer as excited as before when they saw a celebrity or a basketball star?

When he reached home and knocked on the door, his mother didn't look at Wang Yi first. She looked straight past him.
When she saw that no one was behind him, she froze. "Where's Nicole?"
Wang Yi shook his head. "Because of the pandemic, she'd have to quarantine for a lot of days if she came with me. But she has
