Three Straight Threes from Pie Emperor
Everyone was questioning Wang Yi's choice of pass.
Wang Yi pointed at the basket and shouted at Capela, "If you miss, it's on me."
Capela was still hesitating, but there were only three seconds left on the shot clock.
He gritted his teeth and jumped.
His three-point shooting form was far from standard, even a little awkward.
The spectators watching were all a little exasperated.
When Wang Yi had passed the ball to Capela just now, he could've immediately moved back out and taken the ball from Capela.
At least, that was what any other competent point guard would've done. You couldn't possibly expect Capela to shoot a three.
But Wang Yi hadn't done that. Not only had he failed to get the ball back, he'd stayed in the paint, apparently waiting to grab a rebound.
The whole thing left the spectators dumbfounded.
And just then—
Bang—
Swish—
The ball bounced off the backboard and dropped straight through the net.
A three-pointer!
"Oh—"
The moment the shot went in, the crowd erupted with excitement.
After all, when a player who'd almost never taken a three in a proper game suddenly made one, the comedic effect was off the charts.
The DJ pounded the keyboard, playing the sound of a cannonball hitting its target.
Then he announced loudly, "Three-pointer, from the center from Switzerland, Ca—pela—!"
Brown slapped his forehead. "A three! Good heavens, could that be Capela's first three-pointer in his ten-year NBA career?"
Van Gundy, whose scalp gleamed under the lights, was just as incredulous. "Oh, I didn't think he'd actually make one when he was forced to take that three. Today's Capela's lucky day."
After making the shot, Capela himself looked incredibly excited.
He even bounced up and down two or three times.
