How Strong Is Bald Wang Yi!
A surge of deep emotion welled up in Zeng Xinyi.
Her parents and grandfather were all stunned, too.
Anyone else in the world might not have known why Wang Yi had shaved his head, but they couldn't afford not to.
Last year, when Zeng Xinyi lost her hair during chemotherapy, Wang Yi had gone to visit her.
To comfort her, he'd promised that he would shave his head for this year's Olympic Games.
Now, a year later, Zeng Xinyi's illness was almost gone and her hair had grown back. Her whole family had forgotten about the promise.
But Wang Yi hadn't.
Zeng Xinyi couldn't help feeling touched. "If Nicole and Brother Yi ever break up, I'll marry Brother Yi."
Beside her, Zeng Xinyi's mother poked her in the forehead. "You little rascal, all you do is talk nonsense. Why can't you wish Brother Yi well?"
Zeng Xinyi's father stroked her head and sighed jokingly:
"I think our daughter has a point. If Wang Yi doesn't have a girlfriend, he can wait until my little girl grows up and marry her. I don't mind waiting a few years."
Zeng Xinyi's mother shot the father and daughter a look. "You two are impossible."
The reporters were all surprised that Wang Yi had suddenly shaved his head.
A female reporter with beautiful blond hair, who looked like a typical Frenchwoman, stood up and introduced herself first.
"Hello, Wang. I'm Annie Giuntini, a reporter for L'Équipe."
The other reporters all turned to look at her.
Wang Yi looked at her, too.
Her golden waves of hair cascaded down her back.
They reminded Wang Yi of a line from a song: Beneath the distant blue sky, golden wheat waves rolled across the place where you and I once loved.
