Time: 5:05 p.m.
It was 5:05 on a mid-August afternoon, and the weather was still sweltering.
The sun was beating down on the earth with all its might, as if it wanted to roast the oil right out of it.
Yet at a sports stadium in the Magic City, a 180-pound boy was running lap after lap around the track.
He was moving very slowly, clearly running out of energy.
But he didn't stop. He gritted his teeth and kept going.
He'd run three kilometers that morning, trained all day, and was now running another three. Of course it was exhausting for a ten-year-old.
He was so tired he didn't even want to blink.
But he still gritted his teeth and pressed on.
Because Wang Yi's words kept echoing in his mind: I believe in you!
For years, his friends and classmates had mocked him.
They made fun of him for being fat, called him stupid, and laughed at him for being bad at everything.
Some of his teachers even called him "that fat kid."
He'd gotten used to all of it and learned not to care, but that didn't mean he didn't want to become better.
It didn't mean he didn't want to earn other people's praise.
Then, at the show, Wang Yi had praised him.
He'd even said that, out of the more than twenty people there, he had the greatest talent for basketball.
It was as if a door to a whole new world had opened before him.
He'd made up his mind. No matter how hard it got, he would keep going, because he didn't want to let Brother Yi down.
So after training ended that day, he came back to run another three kilometers in the afternoon.
After all, he'd promised Brother Yi he would.
