Flying Dragon Peak
Great Void Sect's Spring Hall could inscribe Spiritual Patterns, but doing so required a large number of Contribution Points.
Shi Yue only had a little over fifty Contribution Points right now—not nearly enough to inscribe Spiritual Patterns.
As for the first method, Talismans were not only extremely valuable but also very rare. He was not sure whether Great Void Sect even had any.
As for artifacts capable of restraining Body Seizure, they were exceedingly troublesome to refine, and the materials required were equally precious. Thus, few Artifact Refiners were willing to make such artifacts. Naturally, even fewer circulated outside. On the rare occasions that a few appeared, they could usually only be found at large-scale auctions.
Shi Yue was only at Qi Refining Level Four, and he had just ten Spirit Stones left. Let alone attending a large auction to bid on an artifact that could prevent Body Seizure, he could not even afford a Talisman that restrained it.
Shi Yue turned the Pale Green Bead over in his hand, his expression shifting uncertainly as he pondered everything.
After thinking it over and over, he decided to go to the Deacon Hall to accept missions, accumulating Contribution Points and Spirit Stones through mission work. Once he had saved enough Contribution Points, he would go to Spring Hall and have Spiritual Patterns that restrained Body Seizure inscribed on himself. Otherwise, he would not dare enter the Mysterious Space again.
Shi Yue did not want to have just caught a glimpse of a beautiful life, only to have his body seized by someone else.
After casting Shi Yu on the three mu of Water Moon Flowers, he flew toward the Deacon Hall on his artifact.
The moment Shi Yue arrived at the Deacon Hall, a figure blocked his path.
Looking up, Shi Yue saw a tall, handsome Blue-robed Youth standing in his way. Beside him stood a Green-robed Woman with delicate features.
"Oh, isn't this Junior Brother Shi? We haven't seen each other in years. I never expected Junior Brother Shi to have advanced to Qi Refining Level Four." The Blue-robed Youth smiled, though his eyes were full of contempt.
"Is something the matter, Senior Brother Chen, Senior Sister Liu?" Shi Yue took a deep breath and said, forcibly suppressing his anger.
The Blue-robed Youth was Chen Ming, while the Green-robed Woman was Liu Zhen.
When Shi Yue's parents had still been alive, the "Senior Brother Chen" and "Senior Sister Liu" before him had often hovered around him, constantly finding ways to make him happy.
Back then, Shi Yue had been very naive and had regarded the two as his closest friends. Yet not long after his parents met with disaster, the two revealed their true faces.
Taking advantage of Shi Yue's trust in them, they had swindled all several hundred Spirit Stones from him, leaving him unable to take a single step without difficulty. Otherwise, Shi Yue would not have remained at Qi Refining Level Two for so many years.
Not only had they cheated Shi Yue out of his Spirit Stones, they had also spread rumors everywhere, claiming that Shi Yue's parents had left him a Heavy Treasure. During that period, Foundation Establishment Cultivators often came to visit Shi Yue. On the surface, they said they were comforting him and telling him not to grieve, but in truth, they wanted him to hand over the treasure.
Shi Yue had no Heavy Treasure at all, but those Foundation Establishment Cultivators simply would not believe him. They used every possible method to force him to hand over the Heavy Treasure his parents had left behind.
With no other choice, Shi Yue dumped everything from his Storage Bag before everyone. Aside from the Red Moon Sword, they could take whatever they wanted.
The Foundation Establishment Cultivators did not stand on ceremony. In no time at all, they divided up all those items among themselves. For a long time afterward, they even sent people to watch Shi Yue, hoping to find the Heavy Treasure his parents had left behind.
Only after Shi Yue had remained at Qi Refining Level Two for years without displaying any sign of sudden wealth did those Foundation Establishment Cultivators finally give up.
Steward Wang had also heard the rumors, which was why he had always targeted Shi Yue, hoping to force him to hand over the so-called Heavy Treasure.
If Senior Brother Chen and Senior Sister Liu had not spread rumors everywhere, Shi Yue would not have suffered so miserably. Thus, Shi Yue hated the two to the bone.
Of course, Shi Yue did not dare show the slightest trace of hatred. Both Chen Ming and Liu Zhen were Ninth Level Qi Refining cultivators, only one step away from Qi Refining Level 10. They were not people Shi Yue could afford to offend at present.
"It's nothing. I simply haven't seen Junior Brother Shi in a long time, so I came to greet you. Go ahead." Chen Ming shook his head and said with a smile.
As he spoke, he stepped aside and gestured for Shi Yue to pass.
Seeing this, Shi Yue was filled with confusion as he cautiously walked past them.
"Senior Brother, even if he has advanced to Qi Refining Level Four, there's no need for you to be so polite to him, is there?" Liu Zhen asked softly as she watched Shi Yue's departing back, her eyes full of puzzlement.
"Hmph. Two months ago, when I ran into him, he was only at Qi Refining Level Two. With his aptitude, advancing two minor realms in succession within two months—don't you find that suspicious?" Chen Ming snorted, his words carrying hidden meaning.
"Senior Brother, are you saying he couldn't resist using the Heavy Treasure Ancestor Master Shi left behind?" Liu Zhen's eyes lit up, and she spoke excitedly.
"Not necessarily a Heavy Treasure. It could also be Mid-grade Spirit Stones. Hmph, Ancestor Master Shi was a Core Formation Cultivator, after all. Shi Yue is Ancestor Master Shi's only descendant. If you said Ancestor Master Shi hadn't left him a hundred or so Mid-grade Spirit Stones, no one would believe it," Chen Ming said, shaking his head solemnly.
"That's true. Should we..." Liu Zhen licked her red lips, her gaze burning.
"Shh, keep your voice down. From now on, watch his movements closely. If he really has a great many Mid-grade Spirit Stones, then we'll find a way to get them from him. Hmph, Shi Yue is nothing but trash with a Five Spirit Root. Leaving Mid-grade Spirit Stones in his hands is a waste anyway. If we obtain the Mid-grade Spirit Stones he has, perhaps we can advance to the Foundation Establishment Stage." By the end, Chen Ming's expression had become somewhat excited.
The Foundation Establishment Stage was a dividing line from the Qi Refining Stage. Great Void Sect's Core Formation Cultivators remained in secluded cultivation year-round, while Nascent Soul Cultivators were as elusive as Spirit Dragons, showing their heads but never their tails. The sect's affairs were all handled by inner disciples at the Foundation Establishment Stage. If he became a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, he could become an inner disciple of Great Void Sect and take part in managing the sect. He would count as one of the sect's upper echelon, and both his status and position would rise with the tide.
Liu Zhen nodded, equally excited.
Naturally, Shi Yue had no idea that he had inadvertently caught someone's eye.
At this moment, Shi Yue was shamelessly asking Steward Wang for a mission.
"Steward Wang, are there any planting jobs?" Shi Yue asked with a broad smile.
"There are certainly missions, but that depends on whether you have the ability to take them." Steward Wang's words carried deep meaning.
"The rewards for planting work are already low. One-third, how about it..." Shi Yue thought briefly before saying this.
"Half. Take it or leave it," Steward Wang said coldly.
"Fine." Shi Yue's brows twitched at those words. After pondering for a moment, he gritted his teeth and agreed. In order to accumulate enough Contribution Points sooner, half it was!
A smug look flashed through Steward Wang's eyes. He said, "Flying Dragon Peak is overrun with a certain kind of weed. Kill all the weeds. Ten Spirit Stones. Complete it within seven days."
"Done. I'll take the job," Shi Yue agreed without hesitation.
Steward Wang nodded in satisfaction and tossed Shi Yue a square purple jade token. The words "Flying Dragon" were written on its front.
Shi Yue caught the jade token, turned, and left the Deacon Hall, flying toward Flying Dragon Peak on his artifact.
Before long, Shi Yue arrived at Flying Dragon Peak—the tallest of the Outer Eighteen Peaks. It was named so because the mountain's shape resembled a true dragon soaring into flight.
