Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core Fusion Body (Please Keep Reading)
Although there were quite a few first-rank White-Wing Clan members, Song Chi hesitated only briefly. The next second, the Cangqiong, its hull enveloped in a layer of dark Psionic Shield, suddenly shot out from the debris field and charged toward the large fragment in the hollow region ahead.
The engines ran at overload. Racing at light speed, the Cangqiong reached the skies above the center of the large fragment almost instantly.
He had chosen this landing point because the nearly twenty first-rank White-Wing Clan members on the fragment were all tacitly gathered around this area. There was no need to think further—the possible high-grade resource, or perhaps a Star Sea Marvel, was most likely located nearby.
Ignoring the still-dazed White-Wing Clan members who had yet to react, Song Chi swiftly swept his gaze across the shuttle's projection screen while waiting for a prompt from the onboard intelligence of the Fierce Tiger Mining Vehicle behind him.
"Warning. Intense radiation source detected. Radiation energy level: strong first rank. Estimated results are as follows:
Third-rank or higher Life Core (32% probability)
Remnant nuclear fusion reactor core of a Star Sea civilization (48% probability)
Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core initial fusion body (95% probability)."
He quickly skipped over the first two entries. Results with less than a fifty-percent probability were basically unreliable; that was common knowledge. But the moment his gaze landed on the third, Song Chi let out a soft cry, and wild joy surged through his heart.
He had never expected the object spawned by the large fragment below to be this.
A Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core initial fusion body, also known as a Proto-Class-1 Floating Continent Essence Core, was the earliest form of a Floating Continent Essence Core. It was also the source from which Floating Continent Essence would endlessly be produced in the future. Every ranked Star Sea Floating Continent contained a cluster of Essence Core.
In other words, if not for him and this group of White-Wing Clan members who had happened to discover the anomaly, then once this Floating Continent Essence Core fully evolved, the large fragment below would continuously merge with the surrounding debris. In a thousand years, it would completely transform into a normal Star Sea Floating Continent.
But clearly, it would not get that chance now. Even a lowest-rank Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core held an unimaginable allure for the vast majority of Star Sea races.
Not only could it promote the evolution of certain organisms' life levels, it was also a mid-to-high-grade Star Sea Marvel itself—the most perfect material for manufacturing high-grade energy cores.
To the various mechanical race civilizations of the Star Sea, this thing could fetch an astronomical price. It was enough to let an ordinary mechanical race member leap across several ranks at once, providing almost inexhaustible energy.
Of course, the Floating Continent Essence Core below was only a lowest-rank Type-1 Essence Core. At most, it could allow a mechanical lifeform to advance to the third rank. Even so, for a Tinder captain like Song Chi, who had only just awakened and was still lingering at the ordinary zero-rank stage, its value was already beyond imagination.
Precisely because he understood the value of the Essence Core below so well, only one thought remained in Song Chi's mind.
"Since I've encountered such a rare event, I have to give it a shot."
From the Cangqiong's sudden appearance to Song Chi sorting through all the information, it seemed to have taken quite some time, but in reality, less than ten seconds had passed. By then, however, the hundreds of White-Wing Clan members below had reacted. They raised their weapons and hurled them at the Cangqiong with all their strength.
A moment ago, they had been killing one another. Yet once the unknown shuttle, the Cangqiong, entered the fray, they immediately united and turned their weapons outward.
Song Chi's reaction was just as swift. Manipulating the control stick in his hand, he deftly dodged most of the thrown weapons with two maneuvers. Then the Cangqiong tilted, aimed itself at the fissure more than ten meters wide directly below, and shot down into it, vanishing from the White-Wing Clan members' sight.
Within the fissure of the large fragment, the Cangqiong descended quickly. By constantly observing the surroundings, Song Chi determined that this fissure had not formed long ago. It had most likely been created by the violent energy eruption earlier.
The reason for that sudden energy eruption was most likely the Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core Fusion Body still evolving deep within the large fragment.
The energy within an incompletely formed Floating Continent Essence Core was not one hundred percent stable. Accidental energy eruptions like this were perfectly normal.
Bzzz! Bzzz! Bzzz!
Ripples continuously spread across the Cangqiong's Psionic Shield. The White-Wing Clan members who had caught up were attacking it.
No matter how skilled Song Chi was, in such a narrow environment, the Cangqiong could never be more agile than individual White-Wing Clan members with wings.
918/990 850/990 766/990 ...
The Psionic Shield's shield value was dropping at a visible rate. Song Chi was no longer as calm as before, and his heartbeat kept accelerating.
Several minutes later, Song Chi discovered some good news. As the Cangqiong continued descending, the number of White-Wing Clan members pursuing him began to noticeably decrease. In the end, only eighteen first-rank White-Wing Clan members remained persistent.
But he soon understood why. Even without being attacked by the first-rank White-Wing Clan members behind him, the Psionic Shield's shield value was still falling at a steady rate. Realizing it belatedly, Song Chi immediately understood.
Clearly, the closer they drew to the Floating Continent Essence Core Fusion Body at the bottom of the fissure, the greater the energy pressure outside became. The reason he felt nothing at all was because the Psionic Shield was isolating it.
499/990
Seeing that the shield value had already fallen below five hundred, Song Chi gritted his teeth and forcefully pressed down his right hand gripping the control stick. The next instant, the Cangqiong abruptly accelerated, streaking downward at a speed far greater than before.
He knew very well that he had to reach the Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core Fusion Body below as quickly as possible. Otherwise, even if he found it later, he would not have enough time to retrieve it.
Once he lost the isolation of the first-rank Psionic Shield, facing energy impacts nearing second-rank intensity with his current lv4 Guidance Technique would be no different from courting death.
"I have to bring the Floating Continent Essence Core into the Cangqiong before the Psionic Shield module overloads..."
With only this thought left in his mind, Song Chi no longer had any other concerns. Colliding with the fissure walls or the occasional attacks hurled by the first-rank White-Wing Clan members behind him—none of it was within his considerations now.
The result was that the Cangqiong's descent speed increased by nearly another twofold. Correspondingly, the Psionic Shield over the hull's surface drained even faster.
More than ten seconds later, under Song Chi's anxious gaze, the Type-1 Floating Continent Essence Core Fusion Body finally appeared at the edge of the Cangqiong's vision.
Instinctively, he pushed the throttle forward again. From the outside, the Cangqiong seemed to transform into a streak of light, flashing once before darting straight to the Essence Core Fusion Body.
