Duanmu Huai's first fight was when he had just started elementary school.
He was already much bigger than ordinary children, so he didn't look like an elementary school student at all. Combined with his fierce appearance, this prompted several older students to try to teach him a lesson. They called him behind the school.
The reason they picked on him was simple. Because Duanmu Huai was tall and sturdy, the older students wanted to use him to establish their reputation. They even wanted him to become one of their underlings.
Then Duanmu Huai beat them up.
Fighting wasn't something that needed to be taught. All you had to do was clench your fists and slam them into the other person's head, chest, or abdomen.
Duanmu Huai fought five people at once, beating them senseless in a chaotic brawl until the school teachers intervened and pulled them apart.
When the teachers questioned them, however, the older students all insisted that they hadn't done anything and that Duanmu Huai had deliberately provoked them. Duanmu Huai merely honestly said that they had called him over and then intended to beat him up.
Since those older students weren't exactly good people either, the teacher gave everyone an equal punishment and told them to go home and reflect on their actions.
At the time, the way they looked at Duanmu Huai was rather ridiculous, as if they were saying, What a big idiot.
So the next day, Duanmu Huai beat them up again.
Being able to beat people up really felt great.
