My father spent the whole day being resuscitated after suffering a heart attack. He was doing all right in the morning, but his condition took a sharp turn for the worse at noon. His organs are now failing, and he's bleeding heavily. He can only hold on with ECMO, and the doctor said he has at most a few more hours. In the end, I'll have to decide whether to remove the tubes.
It all happened so suddenly. He was fine just two days ago and even bought colored lights and "good fortune" decorations for the new year. Then, just like that, he was gone. I still can't quite process it. It doesn't feel like something that happened in real life.
Everyone, please take care of yourselves too, especially in the days leading up to the new year. If you notice chest tightness, heart palpitations, or shortness of breath, don't be like my dad and insist on waiting until the next day—until you can't bear it anymore—before going to the hospital... Seek medical attention as soon as possible...
