After destroying the God of Shattering's false-god avatar, everything that followed became much easier. Duanmu Huai issued an Extermination Order for this planet and the planet that produced the materials, then reported the matter to Dadanier.
The latter wore a complicated expression after hearing Duanmu Huai's report.
"An Evil God... another Evil God?"
"That's right."
"...Inquisitor, it's not that I have any objections or grievances against you, but..."
"That is what Trailblaze through the universe is like."
Duanmu Huai knew what Dadanier wanted to say.
"You reach a new planet and want to occupy it and acquire everything there. But you should also understand that humanity isn't the only species in the universe. If you have your eye on a planet, there's no reason other Xenomorphs wouldn't have their eye on it too."
Exactly. Humans needed air, water, plants, and minerals. Other races were the same. All civilizations in the universe developed through similar means. There was no reason for something humans valued to be considered garbage by other races.
"So every time you reach a planet like that, you may face such a situation: a dormant Necrons empire, an unknown Xenomorph civilization... And that's still considered lucky. Often, when you discover those ancient ruins, that is when things become the most difficult and troublesome."
"Difficult?"
"That's right, because you have to figure out—what caused them to go extinct?"
A threat capable of annihilating other Xenomorph civilizations could just as easily annihilate humanity. When you saw bones, you had to remain alert for man-eating monsters lurking nearby. The universe was a dark forest like that, and Trailblazing any planet was no easy task for humanity.
"...Sigh..."
Dadanier sighed silently.
"I once thought that inheriting my ancestors' wishes, expanding the frontier, and conquering the Milky Way Galaxy was a noble undertaking."
