Shrek Academy
Academy Dormitory Area
"Knock, knock..."
Crisp knocking sounded with the rising morning light.
"Boss, class is about to start! Get up already!"
Xie Xie's voice came from outside the door.
Lying in bed, Tang Wulin groggily opened his eyes.
He rubbed his head, where a faint dull ache still lingered.
"Was it a dream...?"
He murmured in confusion.
A series of fragmented, torn images flashed through Tang Wulin's mind.
Last night, it seemed that someone had broken into his room and attacked him.
The pressure that figure gave off was as immovable as a towering mountain.
Even in front of Teacher Wu Changkong, Tang Wulin had never felt anything like it.
He remembered instinctively using his Golden Dragon Claw to fight back.
But after the man muttered excitedly, "Just as I thought," Tang Wulin's Golden Dragon Claw—something he took pride in among his peers—had failed to affect him in the slightest.
An enormous black dragon claw filled his vision.
Then, a golden light seemed to occupy his Sea of Spirit, and he lost consciousness.
He had no idea what happened afterward.
It was only when Xie Xie's voice reached him that he slowly woke from his sleep.
Looking at the blanket covering him and the surroundings, where it seemed nothing had happened, Tang Wulin felt suspicious and confused.
What exactly had happened yesterday?
Or had it merely been a dream?
But why had it felt so real...?
"Boss!"
Xie Xie's voice interrupted Tang Wulin's thoughts once more.
He shook his head and tossed aside his doubts.
It was probably just an unusually realistic dream.
After all, this was Shrek Academy. Even if it was the Outer Court, how could an ordinary person possibly sneak in without making a sound?
With that thought, Tang Wulin convinced himself.
He threw off the blanket, got up, and quickly washed up.
"I'm coming!"
Three minutes later, the door opened.
Xie Xie's slightly resentful face came into view.
"Boss, what's wrong with you today?"
"Aren't you usually the one waking me up?" Xie Xie asked in confusion.
Tang Wulin rubbed the back of his head. "I don't know either."
"Maybe I used up too much energy yesterday and accidentally overslept."
Xie Xie did not think much of it and merely urged, "Let's go quickly. We can't be late."
"I heard Shrek Academy is very strict about lateness, and our homeroom teacher is that Silver Moon Douluo."
"Mm." Tang Wulin hurriedly nodded and sped toward the classroom with Xie Xie.
Remembering Silver Moon Douluo's stern, unsmiling face, Tang Wulin shuddered and felt a little weak in the knees.
Inside the Grade One Class One classroom.
Silver Moon Douluo was not there, as usual.
Wu Changkong, who had returned to the academy, and Shen Yi, the teachers responsible for the Freshman Class, were both present.
Tang Wulin and Xie Xie hurried inside.
"Teachers, we..."
"Go sit down." Tang Wulin and Xie Xie had just wanted to explain why they were late when Wu Changkong coldly interrupted them.
Familiar with their teacher's temperament, neither of them said anything further and quickly took their seats.
"Now that everyone is here, let's begin today's topic."
Shen Yi spoke.
Compared to Wu Changkong's icy tone, hers was far gentler.
"Today, we'll begin electing the class officers."
Shen Yi first spoke about the benefits that came with serving as a class officer.
Then she directly assigned Tang Wulin the position of Forging Committee Member.
Although this caused some dissatisfaction, Tang Wulin's status as a Level Four Forging Master quickly suppressed those objections.
"As for the selection of the Class Monitor and vice class monitor..."
As Shen Yi reached this point, the gazes of everyone in the class visibly became more fervent.
Leaving aside the contribution points those two positions could bring.
Everyone who could enter Shrek Academy was undoubtedly considered a genius in the outside world.
Naturally, each of them was proud and unwilling to be beneath anyone else.
They listened closely to Shen Yi's next words.
"By convention, we would go to the Grand Martial Arts Arena and hold a large melee to compete for the position of Class Monitor."
"But this time, the academy has decided to make a small change."
"I'll still take you to the Grand Martial Arts Arena shortly, but instead of holding a large melee elimination election, we'll be using a boss challenge format."
"A boss challenge?"
Everyone was stunned upon hearing this.
Yang Nianxia was the first to ask, "Teacher Shen, what does a boss challenge mean?"
Shen Yi explained, "A fifteen-year-old Inner Court senior will serve as the boss and accept your joint challenge."
"He will give an overall evaluation of your performance, and the person with the highest score will become the Class Monitor."
"A fifteen-year-old Inner Court senior?"
Luo Guixing frowned slightly, having thought of another question.
"Teacher, if we defeat that senior in the melee, how will that be judged?"
Luo Guixing knew that an Inner Court senior was certainly someone with outstanding talent, but as someone who had entered the Young Genius Ranking at fifteen, he was naturally proud as well.
He did not believe that an Inner Court senior merely three years older than them could handle the joint challenge of so many students at once.
Upon hearing Luo Guixing's words, Shen Yi revealed a strange smile.
"If you can defeat that Inner Court senior, then whoever lands the final blow will become the Class Monitor."
At this point, her voice paused, and her expression turned strange.
"However, you do not really need to consider that possibility too much."
"After all, the chances of it happening are extremely low..."
Recalling that person's legendary feats, Shen Yi simply did not believe that the three hundred students before her could defeat him even together.
The enormous gap in strength was not something a mere number of three hundred could make up for.
However, the students paid no attention to Shen Yi's words.
They believed Shen Yi was deliberately exaggerating the so-called Inner Court senior.
An Inner Court senior was certainly a genius.
But weren't they geniuses too?
He was only three years older than them. How strong could he possibly be?
Only Tang Wulin's heart skipped a beat.
Fifteen years old, an Inner Court senior?
Those two key phrases together caused a Slender Figure that had left an extremely deep impression on him to emerge in his mind.
He swallowed, thinking to himself.
Could it really be that one?
Then he noticed the fleeting amusement in Teacher Wu Changkong's eyes, and Tang Wulin felt that possibility become even more likely.
Unlike Luo Guixing and the other students, who were relaxed and eager to try, Tang Wulin had already silently gathered all his focus after guessing the truth.
After all, if it really was that one, then as Teacher Wu Changkong had said, their three hundred first-year freshmen simply would not be enough in front of him!
