Necromancer's Domain
"Clang—" On the battlefield, a knight swung his lance and knocked his opponent's weapon away. Yet instead of pressing the attack, he looked at another knight whose armor bore intricate patterns and asked blankly,
"Captain, why are we fighting them?"
The knight captain also fell into thought. "I don't remember, but burying them all here can't be wrong."
"Okay." The knight answered and threw himself back into the battle.
The captain ran his fingers over the patterns on his sword hilt and could not help looking back over his shoulder. Then he became confused by his own action.
What exactly am I waiting for?
The next second, he received an answer that was not really an answer.
Warriors wearing the same standard-issue armor as them poured out of the forest, shouting, "Long live the Blossoms!" They charged into the battlefield and fought beside them.
"Reinforcements?"
A flash of insight crossed the knight captain's mind, but he could not grasp it no matter how hard he tried.
"That's right, I'm waiting for reinforcements. Hiss. Why am I waiting for reinforcements? Forget it, who cares!"
He raised his knight's sword and shouted, "Everyone, our comrades have come to support us! Victory in this war will surely be ours!!"
"Knights, charge!"
"The Blossoms shall endure forever!"
On the battlefield, every knight, including the reinforcements, fell into a strange state of excitement. In almost an instant, the Kingdom of Palenke's Royal Guard formation was scattered, with nearly all of them killed or wounded.
"What did we even win?!"
The sword-and-shield warriors reappeared as if they had crawled out of the earth, radiating even greater strength than before.
The captain's face was full of confusion. "Why? Why?"
"From here on, I'll command the battle."
The knight captain suddenly turned around and discovered that a man in a black robe had appeared beside him at some point. His voice was gentle, and his deep eyes were utterly calm, as though the bizarre situation before them had not surprised him in the slightest.
"Are you a priest sent by the church?" the knight captain asked.
Linton glanced at him. "I can solve the current problem. Now, listen to me."
If he was a churchman guided by the God of Blossoms, then he truly might possess such abilities.
The knight captain's consciousness had long been shattered beyond repair. He could barely remember a little information related to the faith engraved into his soul. As for thinking, that required brain cells, and he did not have such things anymore.
So, instead of questioning Linton's evasive answer, he nodded.
"I leave it to you, Father." He shouted again, "Everyone, follow Father's commands in the coming battle."
"Understood!" the knights answered.
Linton swept his gaze across the battlefield and calmly said, "Fall back. Form a defensive formation."
The next moment, knights locked in deadly combat gritted their teeth and disengaged at the cost of an arm. A knight preparing to ambush an enemy was discovered when he stopped moving, and a retaliatory blade pierced his heart. The doll lady at the very front glanced back at the one giving orders, kicked away the warrior entangling her, and returned to Linton's side.
The knights executed the order perfectly, even though their casualties were considerable.
Seeing the knights retreat, the kingdom's warriors gradually tightened their formation as well, wary of their opponents suddenly launching another assault.
Linton's expression did not change because of the casualties caused by his command. He merely spread his hands.
Secret Art: Necromancer Summoning
"Next, if you feel resistance rising within your hearts, do not fight it. Do not respond."
The knights immediately stopped their restless movements. Only the slight distortion on their faces showed that resisting Linton's demand was not an easy matter.
"I'm competing with that Grand Summoner for control over their souls," Linton said before Iris could ask.
"I didn't ask! Who wants to know what you're doing?" Iris irritably planted her knight's sword into the ground. A faint flush stained her face, though it was hard to tell whether it came from exertion.
"He's a Grand Summoner, someone worthy of being written into textbooks. Can you really take him on?"
"If he still possessed his former strength, then naturally, I couldn't." Linton's voice was full of confidence. "But after being worn down by the passage of time, he cannot possibly retain the power he once had. Even if his current summoning techniques are still superior to mine, this place was once a battlefield soaked in blood."
"This is the domain of a necromancer!"
Linton's tone suddenly rose, his voice becoming impassioned.
The next moment, a certain color faded from the knights' eyes, yet a layer of unfathomable darkness appeared in their depths.
"Knights, charge!"
The knights gripped their lances with both hands and charged into the enemy formation with unstoppable momentum.
This time, the defeated warriors wailed across the ground, but no new shadows joined them.
After the warriors died, the knights' figures gradually began to fade as well, turning into specks of starlight that slowly rose into the sky, as though they were about to join the heavens and become part of the stars.
The knight captain's expression was no longer stiff and vacant. The cloudiness in his pupils slowly receded.
He looked around him, gazing wearily at the shadows about to vanish. His lips moved as though he wanted to say something.
But the next second, the knights' bodies suddenly shattered. The starlight was violently gathered by an abruptly appearing black shadow, and as it clung to it, the shadow's outline gradually took shape: a robe bearing the crest of the Blossom royal family, pale and withered long hair, skeletal hands, and a back that could never straighten again—Grand Summoner Bobby Wendell.
Linton nodded to him with apparent gentleness. "Hello, Mr. Wendell."
"Who are you?" Wendell's face was full of confusion.
"I'm merely an insignificant nobody. You don't need to remember me. You only need to remember who you are."
"Who am I?"
Wendell fell silent for a moment, then slowly spoke through a throat that rasped like a broken bellows. "I am the Chief Royal Mage, the dean of Blossom Academy of Magic. I am the Grand Summoner who connects the otherworld with reality, White Splendor Bobby Wendell."
Linton gave a soft snort. "Is that all? Aren't you missing one? Do you need me to remind you, Mr. Summoner who willingly touched a forbidden taboo?"
Wendell's pride was like a bonfire struck by torrential rain, extinguished without the slightest ability to resist.
"Who exactly are you? Why do you know my secret?"
"I told you, I'm just an ordinary person."
"Heh." Wendell would believe him when hell froze over. "No matter who you are, you found me and cleansed the filth clinging to me. You can't possibly want to invite an old man already in his grave back to Falasong, can you? Go on, what do you want from me?"
"Invite you back? If the people of Falasong don't tie you to a pyre and burn you, that would already be blasphemy against the Lord of Blossoms." Linton mocked him without mercy. "Hand over your book, and then you can return to the abyss you spent your entire life longing for."
Wendell stared at Linton in silence.
After a long while, he slowly raised a hand that seemed covered in wrinkles and lightly touched his forehead.
The next second, pale flames capable of scorching souls surged from every crevice of his body.
"Young man, didn't your parents teach you what it means to respect your elders and care for the young?!"
In the apartment, Tyrannosaurus Warrior watched the uploading progress bar. Only after downing several cans of soda did he barely calm his excitement.
He knew it. This video was definitely going to go viral!!
