Chapter 48: I'm Very Interested in You
Linton didn't feel much about Iris's shyness.
Ever since he was about to enter the academy, his mind had been in a state of high alert, but he still hadn't discovered anything unusual.
The students' levels were not as high as his, and when he occasionally encountered teachers, they were basically around level twenty-something. Logically speaking, even if Iris left the range of the Moonstone of Concealment now, there shouldn't be any major problems.
He just wasn't sure if there were more powerful beings observing them in secret, so he didn't let his guard down.
However, after seeing Iris's discomfort, Linton calculated the distance and said, "There shouldn't be any problem, as long as you don't get too far away. About half a step."
Iris's footsteps suddenly stopped, and then she took half a step back.
"."
Linton didn't want to sing that lyric, but the girl's serious attitude made him feel both amused and exasperated.
"I didn't mean anything else," the doll girl said, waving her hands with a red face. "It's just..."
The Moonstone of Concealment provided area concealment, which meant that those within its covered range would not be affected at all. And Linton wasn't wearing that eye-catching black robe at the moment, so...
Just standing next to Linton, Iris felt her breathing become hot.
—The attraction between souls was not so easy to get rid of.
The Necromancer waved his hand and chuckled, "Iris, this is my first time here. As a regular visitor, won't you introduce me around?"
Iris blinked her eyes, knowing he was helping her out of an awkward situation. But the problem was, her purpose for coming here had always been simple: to find Vera. She had no idea what this building or that garden was called.
But if she didn't say anything, wouldn't it be even more awkward?
As a result, after holding back for a long time, she stammered out a sentence.
"Look at that fountain, it's called... it's called... it's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Pfft."
Linton's laughter was just reaching his throat when he caught the girl's furious, murderous glare. He had to hold it back, but he couldn't hide the strange expression on his face.
"Cough cough..." He cleared his throat and said seriously, "It's beautiful. Yes, it's indeed a good name."
The doll girl now just wanted to find a shovel and build a home for herself right there. She couldn't understand why her brain had suddenly short-circuited.
Hearing Linton's words, she forced anger to cover her embarrassment.
"You're still laughing at me!!"
"No," Linton said as if very seriously. "As an academy, there's no need to consider too many flashy things, especially a magic academy."
"Think about it, although our powers have different branches after becoming stronger, they all originate from primordial magic power. And although magic is diverse, it's basically evolved from a universal framework."
"The name 'It's beautiful' truly has a sense of returning to simplicity."
"Is that so?"
Iris felt that what he said seemed to have some truth to it, and for a moment, she actually started to seriously ponder the deeper meaning hidden behind this name.
As she thought, she suddenly understood.
—This scoundrel was definitely laughing at her!!
But even after realizing it, she didn't get angry anymore. She just grumbled and turned her proud head away, pretending to be very disdainful.
Linton smiled and reached out to touch her, but she immediately slapped his hand away with a "plain attack," followed by a roll of her eyes filled with disdain, skillfully executing a combo.
"Stingy."
"Hurry up, hurry up!"
The doll girl pushed the Necromancer forward, and a gentle, unceasing smile flickered between their eyes.
As the saying goes:
The academy roads are neat and orderly, the roadside greenery is fragrant; the maiden's heart is hard to guess and fathom, budding spring love... who can decipher it?
The library of the Magic Academy could be said to be the iconic building of the entire Kingdom of Blossoms. It occupied a vast area with a complex internal structure. The first floor was densely packed with bookshelves, and many students walked back and forth, looking for the information they needed.
However, due to the overall lazy atmosphere of the Kingdom of Blossoms, Linton didn't see any librarian monks sweeping the floor. The borrowing and returning information was all handled by students working part-time.
After swiping Mr. Sika's library card, he easily blended in with Iris...
It wasn't right to say they blended in. They weren't doing anything illicit, so why couldn't they be open and aboveboard?
"It seems I've stayed in the shadows for too long... my mindset hasn't changed yet."
"What did you say?"
Iris turned her head to look at the man muttering to himself.
"Nothing?" Linton chuckled lightly. "Let's go, we're going to visit your friend."
"Mmm..."
Iris responded reluctantly.
She thought of the dream she had during the Truth Society's Day of Worship again.
"There... shouldn't be any problems, right?"
With that thought in mind, Iris and Linton switched places, with her now leading the way.
"Although the lounges on the third floor are all public spaces that can be rented freely, Vera comes here so often that the administrator always reserves a room specifically for her."
As she spoke, the two of them quickly arrived on the third floor.
The entire third floor was made up of lounges, with carpets laid on the floor to reduce noise. The layout was somewhat similar to a modern hotel, except the spacing between the room doors was much smaller, making the interior space seem not very large.
After turning a few corners, Iris stopped at the door of a room.
"This is it. We're lucky," she said. "Vera is quite famous in the academy, and people always come to her for advice. But if she doesn't feel like dealing with others sometimes, she'll hang a small sign on her door. If that's the case, we might have to wait here until the library closes."
While explaining to Linton, Iris didn't stop moving. She found the small blue button on the side of the doorframe and pressed it gently.
After seeing the button turn green, she gently pushed the door open.
The space inside the room was indeed not large, but it was comfortable enough, with a soft sofa and a wooden coffee table. The lighting was a gentle white light, conducive to reading and easy on the eyes.
The person on the sofa seemed to be engrossed in reading a book. Hearing the deliberately softened footsteps, she chuckled softly.
"Long time no see, Iris."
"What! You guessed it again!" Iris's eyes curved as she placed the small cake she bought from the dessert shop outside on the coffee table. "I brought this for you."
"Thank you, I really like the taste of this shop." Vera smiled, closing the book in her hands and pushing up her glasses. She then turned her gaze to the third person in the room. "Hello, sir."
"Hello."
Linton also nodded gently, observing the girl nestled on the sofa.
The girl had a delicate and beautiful face, with short, grayish-white hair that just brushed past her shoulders. Her eyes were as beautiful as Iris's, but a more mysterious deep blue. A pair of round-framed glasses rested on her high nose bridge, concealing the profound gaze behind them.
As a girl from a noble family, Iris's efforts in dressing up were almost embarrassing; her usual style was to wear whatever she saw. But this Miss Vera was different.
She wore a beige knit cardigan over a plain inner shirt. The pattern was simple, but the fabric was visibly expensive.
Coupled with accessories like a necklace and bracelet, this Miss Vera looked as exquisite as a princess from a fairy tale.
This was Linton's first impression of Vera.
As for Miss Vera's first impression of Linton, it was much simpler.
"Sir, I am very interested in you."
Iris, who was about to introduce them to each other, glanced from one to the other, finally stopping in the middle where their gazes met. Her face stiffened, and her smile gradually disappeared.
Thanks to "saildragon12" for the reward of 100 Qidian coins, thank you very much!!
