The system's notification suddenly rang out, leaving Chang Ping completely dumbfounded.
He'd thought the Horned Sheep's ghost had come to claim his life!
He was the only one in the woods at midday. It was really creepy.
When the notification disappeared, Chang Ping found that he had gained a passive skill—Berserk.
It activated when he became emotionally agitated, temporarily increasing his strength by 200% until he calmed down.
When Berserk was active, his eyes turned red.
Or at least, they should turn red. That was what the skill description said.
His Berserk was currently at Level One. After hunting 100 Horned Sheep, it would reach Level Two. In other words, Chang Ping only needed to hunt 90 more Horned Sheep to upgrade the passive skill.
"Dinner can wait. Upgrading the skill comes first." Chang Ping piled Happy, Pretty, Lazy, and Boiling Sheep together, planning to roast them after he leveled up.
The higher his Berserk level, the better his chances tonight.
To hunt more efficiently, Chang Ping pulled out the Desert Eagle.
"My big gun's been thirsty for blood!" He flicked off the safety, a cruel smile spreading across his face.
Dusk settled in.
Beside a campfire, Chang Ping brushed on seasoning and swallowed repeatedly.
"Smells so good! It smells incredible! Don't rush it. Haste makes waste, and the meat isn't cooked through yet. Just wait a little longer." Chang Ping kept trying to placate his uncooperative stomach.
After working all afternoon, he had more or less wiped out every Horned Sheep in the Trial Ground.
He'd collected a huge pile of horns, hides, and demon crystals. After dinner, he'd haul them to the street outside the academy and sell them.
Horns sold for five Demon Spirit Coins, hides for three, and demon crystals for five. The spoils from one Horned Sheep were worth thirteen Demon Spirit Coins in total. The pile in front of him could fetch nearly twenty thousand.
With that money, he wouldn't have to eat the swill on the first floor of the cafeteria anymore, and he could pay off his debt to Lu Piao.
He'd decided to repay Lu Piao the three thousand Demon Spirit Coins he owed for meals and put their friendship back on equal footing.
That guy called him a glutton every day. It was annoying.
Besides collecting all those spoils, Chang Ping had also leveled up his Berserk.
It had reached Level Three, temporarily increasing his strength by 600%. Each punch dealt six times the damage—utterly absurd.
"About time. Let's eat!" Chang Ping grabbed a lamb chop and prepared to dig in.
Just then, rustling footsteps came from the nearby bushes.
A short while later, three upperclassmen walked over together.
They wore black student robes and stared hungrily at the meat on the grill.
Sitting on a large rock, Chang Ping chewed on a lamb chop and watched the three upperclassmen from the Martial Arts Formal Class with an expressionless face.
The fat one drooled as he eyed the lamb chops on the grill, while the skinny one and the short one gazed greedily at the mountain of horns and demon crystals.
"Hey, kid, did you get all this stuff?" The short one turned to him and asked arrogantly.
Chang Ping nodded without saying a word.
The skinny one asked curiously, "There must be at least eight hundred or a thousand pieces of loot here. How'd you manage to kill so many Horned Sheep?"
"None of your business!" Chang Ping stood up, used his chopsticks to sweep up all the lamb chops left on the grill, and stuffed them into his mouth, chewing noisily as grease dripped down his chin.
"You! You ate all of them?" The fat one panicked.
Chang Ping wiped the grease from his mouth. "They're my things. I can eat as much as I want. What's it to you? If you need something, say so. Otherwise, get lost and stop interrupting my meal!"
He could tell the three uninvited guests had bad intentions, so there was no reason to be nice to them.
"Impudent! Is that any way to talk to your seniors? You little punk, are you asking for a beating?" The short one glared at him with his beady eyes, baring his teeth like a little dog about to leap up and bite.
They'd been looking for an excuse to claim all the loot as their own!
Now that this punk had insulted them, they could take everything as compensation and teach him a lesson while they were at it.
"That's right! I am asking for a beating! Come on, beat me!" Chang Ping beckoned to the short one. "All three of you can come at me together. I'm in a hurry!"
"You arrogant little punk! Today I'll teach you just how high the sky is and how deep the earth!"
"You ate everything and didn't leave me a single piece! I'm angry! Really angry! There'll be consequences!"
"You brat! How dare you steal our loot? Get out of our camp right now, and we'll let bygones be bygones."
The three Formal Class students charged at Chang Ping, snarling and waving their arms.
They didn't notice the blood-red color flooding into Chang Ping's eyes.
"Die!"
The short one reached Chang Ping first, throwing a rising kick at his crotch, intent on ending his chances of ever having children.
Chang Ping showed no mercy to such a dishonorable scumbag. He swung a powerful slap straight into the man's face.
"Smack!"
Before his kick could land, the short one's head snapped to the side and he crumpled to the ground, unconscious—or worse.
"Savage Charge!" The fat one crossed his arms and slammed into Chang Ping's back with all his strength.
Chang Ping simply leaped lightly aside, dodging the charge.
Carried forward by his momentum, the fat one couldn't stop in time and plunged headfirst into the fire. In an instant, he was engulfed in flames.
"Ah! Fire! I'm on fire! Help me! Somebody help!" The fat one scrambled out of the fire, rolling and crawling.
The skinny one hurried over to help put out the flames.
But Chang Ping followed behind him and kicked him straight into the fire as well.
"You think you can rob people with those pathetic moves?" Chang Ping crossed his arms and scoffed contemptuously.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Two sharp arrows tore through the air, aimed straight at the back of Chang Ping's head and heart.
Chang Ping rolled sideways, barely avoiding the deadly attack.
"Who's there? Who's shooting me in the back? Get out here! Don't hide like a coward—if you've got guts, show yourself!" Chang Ping turned and shouted.
"Clap, clap, clap!" A burst of applause came from deep within the forest.
"You managed to dodge my deadly double shot. Not bad~"
Chang Ping narrowed his eyes and looked toward the sound. An alluring woman stood on a tree branch, licking her crimson lips as she stared intently at him.
No, not a woman. A transvestite!
His crotch bulged like that, and his face was covered in stubble. What else could he be?
After activating Berserk, Chang Ping's eyesight had improved along with his strength, so he could see everything clearly.
The transvestite flipped down from the tree, clutching a short bow as he dashed over. In no time, he was standing in front of Chang Ping.
"Snap!"
He snapped his fingers and put the bow into his Space Ring. Then he licked his red lips, stared fixedly at Chang Ping, and said, "You're impressive! Even more impressive than I expected! I think I understand now why the vice president wants me to take you back."
"What the hell is this vice president you're talking about? If you want to fight, then fight. Why all the damn chatter?" Chang Ping had a vague suspicion that this guy was connected to the Dark Guild.
