Why had Hong Jun fallen out with Daoist Yang Mei?
The reason was complicated, yet simple!
Profit!
As one of the three thousand fiends, Daoist Yang Mei was fundamentally different from Hong Jun and the others.
He was an outsider.
Most importantly, he hadn't come here to sightsee, much less to seek immortals and visit friends.
He'd come for one purpose: to plunder!
To seize treasures, opportunities, and every resource he could see—or couldn't.
The Great Desolation World was, of course, among them.
So from the moment he and Yang Mei met, they were destined to be enemies.
Unfortunately, he hadn't realized that at the time.
Back then, he—or rather, the enemies of the new world—had been facing quite a few opponents, all of them formidable. Take the Fiend Ancestor Luohu, who had nearly killed him.
So, with no other choice, he'd struck a deal with the surviving fiends: they would trade their freedom for their help.
He'd thought it would be a win-win arrangement.
He could defeat Luohu and gain control of the Great Desolation World, while those space fiends would get the freedom they wanted.
But now that he thought about it...
Freedom?
Hah!
What could be freer than staying in a world you controlled?
Those guys had never intended to leave in the first place!
Trapped in the Great Desolation?
Bullshit!
Pangu had struck them with his axe so hard they couldn't even move on their own. They'd hidden in the newborn world of the Great Desolation to recover.
And, while they were at it, waited for an opportunity.
Like Yang Mei!
Hadn't that guy found his chance in the end, landing a vicious blow while Hong Jun was merging with the Heavenly Dao?
"Phew!"
The more Hong Jun thought about it, the more uneasy he became.
