The three of them arrived at a river mouth where the water surged turbulently and the dark green mountains on both banks looked like ink paintings. Shi Ji suddenly stopped.

Styx raised his eyes and looked over. He saw purple qi swirling above a household in the village, with faint divine light shining through.

"The two child attendants from Purple Cloud Palace!" Styx reminded her.
"So it's them." Wood Spirit suddenly understood. She had never been to Purple Cloud Palace; she had only sensed Hongjun's aura, which was why she had failed to recognize them earlier.
"How did they end up here?" Wood Spirit asked, puzzled.
Styx shrugged. "It's perfectly normal. Hongjun didn't take them away with him. Being given a chance to survive is already quite good."
As they spoke, the courtyard gate opened, and two boys and a girl ran out. The oldest of the three children looked only about a dozen years old.

The other boy was about seven or eight years old. He held a wooden bow and had delicate, handsome features. Most unusual of all, there was a golden vertical mark between his brows that appeared and disappeared beneath the sunlight.
The last girl looked only three or four years old. She was exquisitely adorable, as though she were a little ball of milk.
