Background / History

Hongjun was originally an unremarkable Chaos Demon God. During Pangu’s World Creation tribulation, an aftershock from Pangu’s axe destroyed his body; he survived by reincarnating into the Primordial World. He later obtained more than half of the Jade Disc of Creation, rapidly surpassed other reincarnated Demon Gods, and sought the position of Heavenly Dao spokesperson. 1469

After reincarnating as an Earthworm, Hongjun discovered Endless Evolution. He scattered flesh-and-blood-derived earthworm clones throughout the Primordial World, ensuring that each could serve as a potential path to survival if his true body died. 504

During the Dao-Demon Conflict, Hongjun recruited Yang Mei, Hun Kun, Five Elements, and Yin Yang to oppose Rahu. His alliance was not altruistic: while persuading Yin Yang, he privately coveted the Taiji Diagram and considered claiming it should Yin Yang perish. 172 173 During the battle in the West, he ignored Yin Yang’s plea for aid while pursuing the Immortal Slaying Sword, contributing to the collapse of the alliance. 195

The conflict left Hongjun grievously wounded. His Three Corpses were destroyed, and the karma of the Western Continent’s devastation prevented meaningful recovery. With no viable route to attain Dao independently, he negotiated with the Heavenly Dao: it would isolate his karma, heal his injuries, and grant him a Thread of Life, while he would become a Heavenly Dao Saint. 204

Appearance

Hongjun commonly appeared as a solemn Daoist or an ethereal old man. His saintly form could not be clearly perceived by weaker beings; observers instead sensed a vast, ruthless Heavenly Dao aura. 231

Hongjun was ambitious, calculating, and intensely cautious. He habitually concealed his true motives, recruited allies through promises of Dao attainment, and treated disciples, allies, and Spiritual Treasures as components of larger plans. His attempt to exploit Yin Yang’s Taiji Diagram and his use of the Saint-Slaying Pill to bind Jieyin and Zhunti exemplify this approach. 173 386

He was deeply resentful of those who advanced beyond his control, particularly Styx, Yang Mei, and the Three Pure Ones. His shortcut to sainthood left him dissatisfied with his own combat power, while the repeated failure of his schemes intensified his hostility toward Pangu’s descendants and other “variables.” 219 223 318

Despite his ruthlessness, Hongjun was not reckless. He relied on clones, concealed himself with the Jade Disc of Creation, kept immense distances from potential enemies, and avoided meeting Destiny until he believed he had remedied his weaknesses. 504 1287

Heavenly Dao Sainthood and Purple Cloud Palace

After accepting the Heavenly Dao’s conditions, Hongjun became the first Saint in the Great Wilderness. He announced three sermons at the Chaos Purple Cloud Palace, established the Mystic Gate, distributed the Severing Three Corpses method, and selected disciples to preserve his Dao lineage. 213 214 260

Hongjun also arranged events surrounding the Purple Cloud Palace seats, including the Chaos storm faced by Jieyin and Zhunti and an emotion-amplifying influence within Hong Yun’s seat. His plans were disrupted by unforeseen participants and the interventions of stronger variables. 231

Merger with the Heavenly Dao

In Chaos, Hongjun trained Jieyin and Zhunti, created powerful clones, and allied with Destiny, Shi Chen, and Yang Mei to attack the Primordial World. He planned to use his disciples as infiltrators while concealing his true form and retaining undisclosed trump cards. 1287 1298

Hongjun infiltrated the Primordial World with the Three Corpses of Jieyin and Zhunti, but Rahu, Dream Spirit, and Styx’s Earth Vein clones countered him.
