White clouds drifted over Flower-Fruit Mountain, and boundless spiritual energy poured forth without pause. The Great Dao Scripture floated out of the cave dwelling, and countless demon monkeys listened, utterly entranced, as the demonic aura in their bodies gradually transformed into immortal energy.
This was Hua Dou's merit. He knew that a Great Calamity was coming to Flower-Fruit Mountain and that it was connected to the cultivation of the demons living there. But he did not want to see living beings suffer, so he had no choice but to teach the Great Dao Scripture, dispelling the demonic aura of the mountain's demons and guiding them toward goodness.
The Macaque King and King Yurong were especially devoted disciples, listening intently and serving at Hua Dou's side. One of the two demon monkeys had taken shape from a wisp of primordial spiritual wind, while the other possessed the ability to command ghosts and spirits. Both were favored by Heaven and Earth, but they had always cultivated on their own, without a master to guide them, which had led to the state of mind they now possessed.
Now, as the two Monkey Kings heard the Great Dao Scripture, they were filled with joy. They grasped its mysteries and reflected on their past actions, immediately feeling deep regret. Defying Heaven brought retribution, and that would hinder their future cultivation.
The Macaque King said sorrowfully, "Teacher, we regret our past deeds. Will Heaven and Earth accept our repentance?"
Hua Dou said, "Heaven and Earth know all. To err and then mend one's ways is the greatest good."
King Yurong said, "Teacher, when will the Malevolent Qi covering my body dissipate?"
Hua Dou said, "Devote yourself to goodness and recite the Yellow Court often. The Malevolent Qi will vanish on its own."
The Macaque King sighed.
